Patience

The problem I see with the Mets right now is there patience at the plate.  They are ranked third to last in the NL in walks and this is a statistic that has plagued them over the last few years.  Reyes is a great talent, but in the leadoff spot, the Mets need someone who walks more.  Since John Olerud the Mets have not a patient hitter.  When Piazza is in a groove he is extremely patient, but when he's not he swings at pitches out of the strike zone.  The one encouraging stat so far is that the Mets rank second in SB.  The Mets finally have an aggressive manager who is not afraid to get thrown out on the base paths.  Every year when the Mets play the Marlins it feels like they run all over the Mets, but for the first time in a while, the Mets are running all over other teams.  I think that this Met team has the pieces to succeed, but they need to stay healthy and ishii and zambrano need to find the stike zone for them to be a playoff contender.
