Pleasant Surprises

The diary below this talks about the Free Agent nightmares (and some bad trades as well).  But what were the pleasant surprises.  Free agents, trades, or homegrown players who did more than one could hope for.

Some of my favorites:

Todd Hundley - We always knew he was good, but 41 HRs?  (in 96)

Rickey Henderson (1999 only) - Way past prime but a ridiculous .423 OBP.  It was like he could draw a walk at will.

Terry Leach  (1987) - The only reliable pitcher that year -- he was the started I most looked forward to.
