Erik, you're good...

...I just saw that and was prepared to post it here. I'm actually concerned about this move. Just because the Mets have money doesn't mean that they have to spend it all on guys like Soriano. I'm half-saying this so that he can prove me wrong and mash, but I'd be much more excited to see Ian Kinsler and/or Adrian Gonzalez in on a deal with us.

Oh, and isn't a hitting coach supposed to tell Beltran that he really doesn't have to swing at every first pitch? Then he can tell Reyes that just because he's now waiting on most first pitches...well...this doesn't somehow force him to swing at 80% of 2nd pitches

he can play i actually saw him a couple times on tv, he was a #1 overall pick by the marlins

.304/.364/.457 last year in AAA, hitting better this year, this kid is good prospect

i know zambrano

is pitching well but i don't know if i would let him pitch this inning, i heard pitchers say is the worse thing about coors is that it feels like you have thrown more pitches than you really have and it messes you up next start, zambrano a little over 100 already

Houston Mismatches

All four games against HOU look mismatches -- on paper, we should win the first two, and lose the second two. But as we've seen lately (Hi, Jake Peavy!), these matchups don't always come out as expected.

I guess we catch a break by not facing the Rocket, but there's a part of me that wanted to see Pedro go up against him.

Clemens vs. Pedro

Yeah, part of me wanted to see that too. I watched an hour of the Phillies/Astros game before the Mets game came on last night. Clemens was off, (I heard he had back pain/stiffness before the game and almost didn't pitch). I saw him go 3-0, 3-1 several times, and kept hoping the Phillies would draw some walks and score more runs, but those hapless, sucky Phillies kept getting fooled by the splitter. Once the count would go full, the batters would look sort of panicky and then choke. Pathetic.
