Impressive Seo could be bargaining chip
"As Kaz Ishii continued his struggles Wednesday at Shea Stadium, a possible replacement, Jae Seo, gave the Mets another reason to reconsider going with Ishii.
Seo, who has been buried at Triple-A Norfolk since May 5, struck out nine in 8 1/3 innings in a 3-1 victory over Toledo. He is 6-2 with a 1.92 ERA since his demotion and has become more of a strikeout pitcher during his stay with the Tides with 90 in 90 1/3 innings.
"He's better than the league right now," Norfolk pitching coach Dan Warthen said.
Seo's best feature has always been his pinpoint location, but he's expanded his repertoire since returning to the minors, mixing in curveballs and splitters for about 10 percent of his pitches along with his standard fastball and changeup.
Warthen said that in Wednesday's win, Seo threw about six curveballs and four splitters, using one to whiff Magglio Ordoñez, who was rehabbing with Toledo.
With the trade deadline quickly approaching, Seo has drawn serious attention from other clubs.
He is out of options after this season, virtually guaranteeing he'll be in the majors somewhere next year, if not sooner."
Why isn't he brought up to the big club with Ishii moving to the BP?
What are the Mets waiting for?
