Opening Day

I was shutout of opening day tickets, and have been looking online to see what is avaliable.  I was wondering what people would be willing to pay for 2 Mezz tickets to see the 06 Mets open the season.

I have posted a Poll Question on this topic, let me know what you think.  Also, anyone know of better sites to get tickets through than craigslist or ebay?

Poll

I avoided the line for single-game ticket sales by ordering a Pedro Pack six pack.  Six games, including Opening Day, for around $20 per game to sit in the Upper Deck.  $114 total, plus a few fees for ordering online (although you might avoid fees by calling the ticket office directly).

Games also included are Hispanic Night, Merengue Night, and two Pedro-themed promotions.

Although the opener is "sold out," six packs are still available:

If you just want Opening Day tickets, you can try Stubhub.com, although I doubt it will be any cheaper than Craigslist or eBay.

also...
The Pedro Pack also includes the Friday night game against the Yankees, which is definitely worth the money.

And all of the games (with the exception of Opening Day) are on Friday nights.  Opponents are Washington, Yankees, San Francisco, Florida, Houston, Philadelphia.

Already have a 6 pack
The last few years I have picked up the 6 pack that included Opening Day, but this year I went in on seats with my Uncle and he couldn't do Opening Day, so we picked up a different pack (I think the All Star).

I will have to look into Stubhub.

don't miss merengue night!
It was really fun and I'm about the whitest guy ever.

The atmosphere was incredible. It was like the Beatles had just arrived in America when they announced whoever the headline reggaeton guy was.

next year is now
For ticket sales, at least.  Opening Day this year has been much harder to get tickets for than previous years.  One way of getting a better chance is through the Group Sales office -- if you coordinate a large group that comes to Shea at least once a year, you can get a (very slight) bit of preferential treatment when they're handing out the opening day tickets.  Also, there are always a few more available even when it's nominally sold out, so try calling every few days and asking if anything new has showed up.

Judging by the comments to Matt Callan’s ode to 1986 Mets: A Year To Remember from a few weeks back, the video has a devoted Mets fan following. Despite being too young to remember anything about that season, it has a special place in my fandom as well. It was part of a two video rotation (Ghostbusters being the other) which ran almost daily on my television for a few years in the early 90s. And it remained a once-in-awhile watch through high school and college.

Unsurprisingly, the physical tape deteriorated over time, and the screen jumps and sound skips made for a less than optimal viewing experience. With sale of the video discontinued, my brother converted it to DVD and gave it to me for Christmas in 2010. See the picture above for the box and DVD. He even created a scene selection function which can be accessed from the main menu. "Get Metsmerized!" plays on loop on the menu screen. It is my favorite Christmas gift ever and is still nice to throw on for a viewing.

"How'd we do it? Mirrors!"
I was flipping through some of my parents' photo albums this afternoon in search of one particular shot of the sign my older sister made for Mets Banner Day back in the late eighties. Though I didn't find that one — I'll post it when I eventually track it down, and I can assure you that it's Keith-themed — but I did stumble upon this wonderful photo of my younger sister's stuffed animal menagerie spread out in front of a glorious rainbow-festooned Mets pennant, also from the late eighties.

She works for the HRC now and was particularly delighted to be reminded of this photo.

Now that banner day is back, hopefully this years will look a little like this. I know it's not great, but i don't pretend to be a professional. embiggen!
