The only prescription: more Hernandez?

Via metsblog, Dan Graziano of the Star-Ledger has a piece looking at the Mets' options for adding a starter this summer.  His take is that Livan Hernandez is the most likely option, and would cost the Mets the least.

I think I like the idea.  Not only would reuniting the Hernandez brothers be cheaper than the other options, it would seem to make the most sense -  rather than grasping at over-priced "aces" like Willis or Maddux, the Mets would be getting what they need: a quality third starter.  They could move Trachs to fourth, where he belongs, and have their pick among Soler, Bannister, Maine, and Pelfrey at number five.

What do y'all think?  And who would the Mets have to deal for Livan?

Hm, looks like you can't do html
in the poll options.  And I can't edit it either.

Ah well.

HTML
Apparently not. You can still edit the poll by editing the entry itself; there is no separate edit feature for just the poll since it is attached to the entry.

Thanks
For some reason it wouldn't save the change when I tried it.

27% for Leela?
You guys do know that she's the worst blernsball player of all time, right?

How is Willis overpriced?
He may be at some future time, but he isn't now.

Pelfrey+ for Willis is fine with me. He needs to be rescued from Florida.

Maybe not overpriced
But would cost a top prospect and/or frontline starter, unlike Livan.

I agree that the Marlins are dragging him down, and if we get him, I won't be displeased.  But LH gives us what we really need right now, without giving up Pelfrey.

I think this team is one starter from a ring
And so you're asking the right question.

The answer will be obviously the superior third starter in the postseason over Trax and Duque.

I'm not sure Livan is that guy.

On your list, I like Willis, Schmidt and Zito for the task.

Giving up Pelfrey would hurt, especially within-division.

I'm sure Omar will cook something up for the deadline, and I hope it's not another K for Z.

Prior?
The cubs are in some trouble. Would they move their former ace? It would be a large injury risk but could have tremondous upside. He's still only 25. But it would surely be expensive.

I was inspired by Eric's comment that Olerud had the best 3-year run as a Met outside Carlos Beltran to look at a few different Mets, and when I noticed that two of my all-time favorite players (Alfonzo and Strawberry) were kinda screwed by having (relatively)bad seasons in between some really good seasons, I decided to see which Mets had the best 3 seasons, period (non-consecutively). Beltran still comes out on top, but my all-time favorite player Alfonzo comes in 2nd place, and him and Straw are the only two to have three 6.0+ WAR seasons. Also interesting that Hundley comes out ahead of Gary Carter, Cleon Jones almost finishes ahead of Mike Piazza, and Joe McEwing doesn't make the list.
