Can't stand Carlos Zambrano ...
I hope Houston breaks up the no-no.

not a fan of the antics?
its a ground ball...trickling... its a fair ball, its by Buckner, rounding third Knight, the Mets will win the ballgame, the Mets win

Yeah, he's too over-the-top, although I had
to laugh when he broke that bat over his thigh in disgust. (Can't remember what game that was.) Not that I approved. I thought it was stupid. But it made me laugh.

the antics I don't mind
Cause people are saying the same stuff about Milo now. But I could live without the head hunting.

People may be saying the same stuff about Milo,
but I personally don't see it as the same. As I posted below, I had no problem with Milledge's high-fives with the fans. And if it had been a rookie on an opposing team hitting his 1st major-league HR to tie the game in a crucial situation when we were down to our last strike, I'd tip my hat to him and wouldn't begrudge him his high-fives if he did it. I don't know. Maybe it's a matter of personal taste. Mainly I see Zambrano as a hot head, and I agree about the head-hunting. To me there's a difference between fiery, competitive passion and idiotic hot-headedness. /end of soapbox

Oh yeah, and let's go Mets! AND ...
I had no problem with Milledge high-fiving the fans. It was his first major league HR in his home ballpark. Sheesh. I don't see what the big deal is.

much ado about nothing
The Giants have Barroid on their team, who used to drop the bat at home plate and put both arms up after dingers. And what was Alou talking about with that play at 3rd. It was like how dear you try to beat us? Idiots.

what did he say about 3rd?
was it Reyes running up and down the line? apparently he had the green light to swipe home.

by big shea on Jun 5, 2006 10:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Alou

Manager Felipe Alou was diplomatic, saying, "Just like Reyes, the show he put on at third base. We can't control what other plays do around the league. They have to be controlled at the other end. Otherwise the big leagues will take care of that."

McReynolds
had a real solid year in 1988. He played left, but was an excellent outfielder and a high percentage baserunner. He fell off the cliff after that year. Didn't seem to like to play ball. wanted to go fishing

by elifriedman on Jun 5, 2006 11:01 PM EDT up reply actions

his OPS
that year was 832. K Mac was a good player, but LF != CF as far has defensive importance. Oh and Carlos SB percentage is 13 points high than KMac. 87% vs 74%. By the way Beltran's has three years of 900+ OPS and is at a healthy 967+ this year.

The nye Mets are my favorite squadron.

by LAwman on Jun 5, 2006 10:35 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd say Kaz, but the Mets
would probably never do that. I don't think they'd send Endy down, as he's too valuable defensively, has really come through off the bench, has a lot of speed (in contrast to Nady). If you send Kaz down, though, then you only have Woodward left to play 2B when Valentin doesn't?

by BlueYonder on Jun 5, 2006 10:40 PM EDT up reply actions

If they sent Endy down and kept Kaz
I might have to resign my Mets fandom. That would really mean that money and saving face means more than trying to win.

can't imagine
that happening. think Milledge will go back down unless he bowls everybody over. If he's that good now, maybe should consider trading Floyd-he's in his walk year anyway
end the madness.stop the war

by elifriedman on Jun 5, 2006 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't
think you can trade Floyd for several reasons.
  1. What if Milo stops hitting
  2. Clubhouse chemistry Cliff is a leader
  3. Most important he is a second big Lefty bat in the lineup daily.

by udamnwright on Jun 5, 2006 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree...
I don't think you can trade him. The only thing you would consider trading him for is a pretty good starting pitcher. But I don't see many teams giving up a quality starter for Cliffy at this point.

by big shea on Jun 5, 2006 10:51 PM EDT up reply actions

We shouldn't trade Floyd
Because we ought to resign him for next season. I'd be more comfortable with an outfield of Floyd, Beltran, Milledge with Nady as a RF/LF/1B/3B fill in than a Milledge, Beltran, Nady outfield.

2013 ALL-STAR GAME(TM) LOGO CONTEST

Major League Baseball has formally announced that Citi Field will be the site of the 2013 All-Star Game. (see video) In light of this, I have decided to launch an All-Star Game logo contest. To help get you started, I provided all of you with a sample All-Star Game logo. (click here to embiggen) If you wish to participate, please enter your submission with an image below, in the comments section. The contest ends on May 31st. I will choose a select number of finalists, and the community will vote on which of those logos is the best one.

Can you create a better logo than the sample logo provided? Then, give it a shot. Good luck to all participants!
Jon Rauch is awesome. Dan Tanna is, obviously, a fan of Greg Pomes.
LET'S GO METS GIF

By the way, I need some help here - is there any way to make this gif go faster? The "Let's" and "Go" sequences are only supposed to be 500 milliseconds each, and "Mets" a full second. Instead, each sequence is at least a full 1000 milliseconds (1 second) longer than it should be.
The first picture of a not devastated Tom Glavine after Game 162 of 2007 has finally been released.

(This is an old and kind of out of left field reference, but hey, we're playing the Marlins right now and John Maine just got released, so it's sort of relevant, plus I spent approximately 6.5 minutes making it and felt like I had to share.)
The reaction at Harrenhal Castle, payback was swift today!
