AA goes to Wrigley
I have tix for Saturday's game in Chicago. This is my first trip to the "friendly confines". My tix are upper deck, but I'll stroll around to get a feel for the place. I will definitely have the Mets hat on.
I will also be going to the 1-2 games at Great American next week when the mets play the Reds. I can get pretty sweet tix for Pelfrey's start on Tuesday.

the most beautiful park in the Majors
When you're there, you realize that that is the way baseball was meant to be experienced--no loudspeakers and blinking/flashing signs everywhere, no "fan-friendly" sideshows, and all the seats are pretty close to the action. In that park, you really are in a timewarp of sorts. It sounds corny, but was something of a religious experience for me. I was even contemplating taking another trip to Chicago this season just to see a game.
And scene around the park is great, as well. Go early and walk around outside, stay late at the park after the game to take some pictures, and hit a few bars in the area after the game. It's a great way to spend a day. I'm jealous.
I'll try
I lived in Boston for a couple of years and made several trips to Fenway. I do like the character of the old parks better and dislike the antiseptic theme-park flavor of the new ones.
With that said, I am also going to try and make it to the Pittsburgh series in September to see the Mets at PNC. The stadium is supposed to be the best of the new breed.

my ballpark trip
- PNC in Pittsburgh (Friday)
- Jacobs in Cleveland (Saturday)
- Wrigley in Chicago (Sunday)
- US Cellular in Chicago (Monday)
- Miller in Milwaukee (also Monday)
- old Busch in St. Louis (Tuesday)
- Great American in Cincinnati (Wednesday)
- Cooper Stadium, AAA Columbus Clippers (Thursday)
Behind Wrigley and PNC, I'd put the old Busch Stadium, believe it or not. To be honest, I didn't think they needed a new park in St. Louis. The old one was in pretty good shape, and I think was pretty nice after they put grass in there. But I guess if you have the money and the backing, you get a new park. Oh, and I loved the way the arches on the rim of the old Busch stadium emulated the Gateway Arch.

PNC looks like a beauty
I was at Safeco Field recently, and I don't know if it counts as "antiseptic", but it's a really lovely place to watch a game. I'll take antiseptic if it comes with sightlines like that. And anyway, Shea is more than septic enough...

I would pick Mays Field over Safeco

The Reds got hosed
Bowden got two everyday starters for some relievers from his bullpen that are not named Chad Cordero. I don't know how he did it....
I'll be there too
Wrigley is my favorite park by far. I have a lot of good friends that live in Wrigleyville (one lives in the shadow of the stadium on sheffield) and am a bit spoiled because I get to go about once a year. This is my first time going in as the enemy though. Wish me luck!
oh man...
The worst part is, I got tix to 8 games at wrigley this year...we were in all the internet waiting rooms before the season and got lots of choices on games, but the mets series was unavailable to us. I can't believe they sold out the mets that early.
