Kevin Goldstein ranks the top 20 RHP prospects

Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus ranked the top 20 right handed pitchers in today's article.

The Mets placed three pitchers on the list.

Star-divide

Mike Pelfrey came in at #7, Phil Humber ranked 14th, and Deoilis Guerra ranked 19th.

Good news for the Mets faithful.

Goldstein also mentioned that Pelfrey and Humber should compete for 07 rotation slots.

Imagine a rotation of Pedro, Pelfrey, Humber, Perez and Bannister.

4 young guns and Pedro.

Maine, not Bannister
Bannister hasn't impressed me, Maine has.  Pedro, Pelfrey, Humber, Maine, Perez.  That would be cool.
John Maine for Cy Young!

that would be hot,
but I think it's a better 2008 rotation than 2007.  Humber and Pelfrey might still be a year away from being productive in the majors, and rushing them might do more harm than good.  I'd like to have at least one of Glavine, Trachsel, and El Duque (preferably Glavine), or a new hired gun, in the rotation next year to solidify things.

I agree with that, and
I'd like to see Glavine back next year. I think Pelfrey will be ready by next year, but I'm reserving judgment until after spring training. If he's ready, yeah, a rotation of Pedro, Glavine, Maine, Perez and Pelfrey would be awesome.

I have resigned myself
to the fact that Glavine is gone after this year.

this is the strangest situtation
we'll find out soon enough.
its a ground ball...trickling... its a fair ball, its by Buckner, rounding third Knight, the Mets will win the ballgame, the Mets win

I was inspired by Eric's comment that Olerud had the best 3-year run as a Met outside Carlos Beltran to look at a few different Mets, and when I noticed that two of my all-time favorite players (Alfonzo and Strawberry) were kinda screwed by having (relatively)bad seasons in between some really good seasons, I decided to see which Mets had the best 3 seasons, period (non-consecutively). Beltran still comes out on top, but my all-time favorite player Alfonzo comes in 2nd place, and him and Straw are the only two to have three 6.0+ WAR seasons. Also interesting that Hundley comes out ahead of Gary Carter, Cleon Jones almost finishes ahead of Mike Piazza, and Joe McEwing doesn't make the list.
