Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Anderson Hernandez

Does anyone know how his batting average has looked this spring? Hes been pretty successful and solid in winter ball, but does anyone know where his batting avg has been sitting and peaking? and how does his defense look?

I'm a huge fan and hope he's in for a big year. I cant help but hope for Valentin to fail so the Mets are forced to bring in AHERN even tho Easley would probably warrant the first look

not to step on your toes Grozzy!!

okay so i got off my lazy aaaaaaa
and went over to mets.com:

AHERN is batting a WHOOPING .115, look for him to get sent down shortly.  Plus he's been playing SS exclusively, ah well   :  (

Ruben Gotay on the other hand is batting .375

And hoping for the Stache to fail
is probably not the preferred position for a Mets fan if you want the team to win.
Watch me paste this pathetic palooka with a powerful paralyzing perfect pachydermous percussion pitch.

excuse my ridiculousness
I did the same when Brian Griese was clogging up the scene for Chris Simms.  I'm just wired that way.  Of course I wouldnt hope for his failure to be the downfall of the mets; i highly doubt 2b will make or break us.  Not to mention he was no where to be seen come the post-season where it counts, sooooo eh.  i know, none of those excuses are good enough (hanging head)

No problemo
I know what you meant.  AHern is just a damn mystery, the way he excels in AAA and Winter ball but just sucks at the major league level.  (So far.)

my theory on IPOR
is that he is simply not a major league hitter from the left side and should exclusively Right handed. Watching him bat against lefties, his bat is much better.
its a ground ball...trickling... its a fair ball, its by Buckner, rounding third Knight, the Mets will win the ballgame, the Mets win

I was inspired by Eric's comment that Olerud had the best 3-year run as a Met outside Carlos Beltran to look at a few different Mets, and when I noticed that two of my all-time favorite players (Alfonzo and Strawberry) were kinda screwed by having (relatively)bad seasons in between some really good seasons, I decided to see which Mets had the best 3 seasons, period (non-consecutively). Beltran still comes out on top, but my all-time favorite player Alfonzo comes in 2nd place, and him and Straw are the only two to have three 6.0+ WAR seasons. Also interesting that Hundley comes out ahead of Gary Carter, Cleon Jones almost finishes ahead of Mike Piazza, and Joe McEwing doesn't make the list.
