SI predictions

Angels over Dodgers, huh?  I mean, I know the playoffs last year proved that anything can happen, but don't the Dodgers actually have to make the playoffs first?  They have no offense whatsoever, and they're going to beat out San Diego and Arizona?  I have my doubts, no matter how many sacrifice bunts Juan Pierre lays down.

And St. Louis as the 6th best team in the majors?  Better than Cleveland?  I don't care how much hustle-heart lil' Davey Eckstein brings, it won't make up for having Kip Wells as your 3rd starter.

I dont think your giving the dodgers enough credit.  They have a decent offense.  Young guys like Ethier and Loney are gonna add some excitement and pop to their lineup.

As for the Cardinals being the 6th best team in baseball.  Not too sure about that.  They limped into the playoffs and only beat the Mets because they were with out Pedro and El Douque.

My world series prediction

Revenge for '73.
I like it.
Watch me paste this pathetic palooka with a powerful paralyzing perfect pachydermous percussion pitch.

Dodger rotation
The Dodgers' rotation is loaded and might be the deepest in baseball.

I was inspired by Eric's comment that Olerud had the best 3-year run as a Met outside Carlos Beltran to look at a few different Mets, and when I noticed that two of my all-time favorite players (Alfonzo and Strawberry) were kinda screwed by having (relatively)bad seasons in between some really good seasons, I decided to see which Mets had the best 3 seasons, period (non-consecutively). Beltran still comes out on top, but my all-time favorite player Alfonzo comes in 2nd place, and him and Straw are the only two to have three 6.0+ WAR seasons. Also interesting that Hundley comes out ahead of Gary Carter, Cleon Jones almost finishes ahead of Mike Piazza, and Joe McEwing doesn't make the list.
