Around SBN: NFL Roundtable: Which Draft Pick Is Most Likely To Bust?

Tuesday Linkage

Who is the best shortstop in New York? Joel Sherman would take Jose Reyes, even for *this* year.

Willie likes what he saw on the mound yesterday (includes audio file).

Carlos Delgado has been scratched from the Mets's game today in Kissimmee against the Astros. No more information is known at this time, but the best guess is left elbow soreness, the same elbow Delgado had surgery on this offseason.

In the New York Post, Mark Hale breaks down what went wrong at last year's trade deadline with the would-have-been deal for Roy Oswalt.

Over at Fear and Faith in Flushing, Jason isn't sure what the Mets *are*, but he takes a few minutes to tell us what they are *not*.

At MetsGeek, Alex looks at the Mets' pitchers through the microscope of some of Baseball-Reference.com's new features.

Nate Silver at Baseball Prospectus doesn't like Forbes's methodology in determining their best general managers in sports.

Ralph Kiner Night will be July 14 at Shea.

Carlos Delgado thinks that Shawn Green can regain his old form.

Michael Eisner leads a group that purchased Topps for $385.4 million.

Best Shortstop In N.Y,,,
...may be A-Rod. That was no knock on Jose or Jeter.

I' m sorry
but I have never read Forbes, and now that they think McHale is the best GM in sports, I WILL NEVER EVER read it.

Forbes criteria
as you would imagine is very money oriented, not based on what happens field/court/ice. McHale has pimped the best years of Kevin Garnett into mucho money for his owners while bringing in mediocrity to surround one of the best players in the league. Forbes likes the money part.
its a ground ball...trickling... its a fair ball, its by Buckner, rounding third Knight, the Mets will win the ballgame, the Mets win

If you stop reading Forbes or any other publication simply because you disagree with an article or an opinion, you are indeed "sorry".

Oswalt
I'm not usually big on trading away prospects to get established players, but wow, the shot at Oswalt, a legitimately young legitimate ace...  damn, I wish the Mets had pulled that one off.

by Josh @ Amazin' Avenue on Mar 6, 2007 6:57 PM EST reply actions

well Peter Angelos
killed the deal, supposedly. He decided that he wasn't trading Miggy Tejada. Plus we would had had to sign Oswalt, who is a country boy.

The A's...
...are once again injury riddled in their outfield. Kielty has a bad knee and Kotsay's back problems are not behind him [hell of a pun, huh?]...Don't be surprised if Lansings isn't gonzo for Haren or, more likely, Blanton.

by Ralph Zig Tyko on Mar 6, 2007 7:11 PM EST reply actions

under no circumstances
can the Mets trade Milledge for Joe Blanton. That would be Kazmiresque. Haren I might consider.

Reyes v Jeter
I think you have to give Reyes the edge on best SS in NY at this point - he's younger, faster and is at his prime.  But then again, i may be biased.

I love Reyes like every Met
fan, but Jeter still has the edge. The man has done it for 10 years. We have to respect that. Reyes might end up being better, but Jose needs an encore from last year before this is a serious discussion.

2013 ALL-STAR GAME(TM) LOGO CONTEST

Major League Baseball has formally announced that Citi Field will be the site of the 2013 All-Star Game. (see video) In light of this, I have decided to launch an All-Star Game logo contest. To help get you started, I provided all of you with a sample All-Star Game logo. (click here to embiggen) If you wish to participate, please enter your submission with an image below, in the comments section. The contest ends on May 31st. I will choose a select number of finalists, and the community will vote on which of those logos is the best one.

Can you create a better logo than the sample logo provided? Then, give it a shot. Good luck to all participants!
Jon Rauch is awesome. Dan Tanna is, obviously, a fan of Greg Pomes.
LET'S GO METS GIF

By the way, I need some help here - is there any way to make this gif go faster? The "Let's" and "Go" sequences are only supposed to be 500 milliseconds each, and "Mets" a full second. Instead, each sequence is at least a full 1000 milliseconds (1 second) longer than it should be.
The first picture of a not devastated Tom Glavine after Game 162 of 2007 has finally been released.

(This is an old and kind of out of left field reference, but hey, we're playing the Marlins right now and John Maine just got released, so it's sort of relevant, plus I spent approximately 6.5 minutes making it and felt like I had to share.)
The reaction at Harrenhal Castle, payback was swift today!
