Is anybody else worried?

WTF is wrong with our beloved Mets this year?  Just about every time you think they've had a turning point game, and going to start hitting their stride, they seem to inevitably stub their toe.

Star-divide

I have not liked the way this season has progressed; injuries aside, the level of play and consistency has been worrisome.

You can talk about the bullpen, the up-and-down starting pitching, or the production fall-off for much of the line-up (oh, and that Shawn Green has cost the Mets a ton of runs.  Be it from use utter futility at the plate and always stranding runners...or be it to his attrocious "defense").

For me, there is one sign that I think is clear and the cause for most concern.  This team cannot help itself from playing up or down to the competition (the Braves excluded of course).  We can go and play great against the Brewers and Cubs, but we can't handle the Pirates, Nats and Marlins like we should.

I don't know if it's the hang over from last year...but I certainly hope that it's one of those things where they trun it on for the stretch run and the playoffs.  Otherwise, I fear that we may not be enjoying baseball in October for very long.  Thoughts?

maybe worry
but only because the phillies and braves are good teams too.  i couldnt find the 2007 projects from pecota or whatever from earlier in the year this is basically where we should be.  and last year we played over our heads and the braves played below, so i dont htink its reasonable to say things should be going like they did last year.  we can defintiley improve on sloppy play and what not but i dont see anything unexpected going on this season.

I'm passed worried
I've lowered my expectations to basically having none. We've been here because of pitching and now it's going. I'll be happy to make the playoffs this year. I've gone through too many letdowns from all of my teams. I'm done doing that, so I just lower my expectations.

I personally think
At least in my case, were spoiled immensley on how -everything- clicked last year for us. The only bump in the road was Sanchez, which continues to haunt us this year. But we played terrific, the NL east played horrible, everything went well. Now this year its not, and its easily noticeable. Worried? You bet? Confident that we could get the job done? Mostly. But only time shall tell.
