Not too shabby. I was daydreaming about the 8-ball they used to use in some MTV "Rock-n-Jock" Softball game. It's a softball painted black that counts for 8 runs. Now THAT would add some strategery!

day off, SNY commentary, it can't get better
than this.

well, a Mets win would be nice.

Man, that guy is getting served every game.

"giving him a total of 10 passed balls in his first 5 games."

maybe he's in the wrong line of work

Wright
I wish Milledge and Gomez had the plate discipline Wright does.
It's amazing the rate at which he's been walking lately.

by BlackOps on Aug 23, 2007 7:35 PM EDT reply actions

Of course
Reyes developed it, so I guess we can still hold some hope for those guys.

by BlackOps on Aug 23, 2007 7:35 PM EDT up reply actions

How many
years does Wright have on the 2? At least 3 or 4 years on Gomez's part anyway, right>

by NewMet5 on Aug 23, 2007 7:42 PM EDT up reply actions

It doesn't matter
Wright's walk rates have been better than Gomez' and Milledge's even during minor league years.
I did say that Reyes developed it in the majors and that it's possible that Milledge or Gomez will too.
Of course it doesn't help a player's development when he's used as a platoon player.

milledge P/PA
just looked up milledge pitcher per PA - right around wrights (3.8-4.0).  i think he's got sharp enough eyes to keep his BB up.  but then there's the problem of him not getting the chance because we march dead legs green out there.

green once stole 35 bases in a year
amazing.  green: get back on the roids or retire.

by kendynamo on Aug 23, 2007 7:54 PM EDT reply actions

make with the hitting, please...
Germano has won ONCE in his last 10 starts and he picks tonight to get back on his horse?

by citimetro on Aug 23, 2007 8:53 PM EDT reply actions

if only
the run expectancy is 2.4 for the base loaded, no outs.

But frankly, I'm expecting one run here.

by citimetro on Aug 23, 2007 9:09 PM EDT up reply actions

anytime
now who does Willie pick to try to hold on to this thing?

by citimetro on Aug 23, 2007 9:17 PM EDT up reply actions

oh snap!
Greenie's good for something after all!

(I stand corrected from earlier, too pessimistic, I guess...)

by citimetro on Aug 23, 2007 9:14 PM EDT up reply actions

boo-yakka!
That's more like it!

It's good to have Marlon back.

by citimetro on Aug 23, 2007 9:16 PM EDT reply actions

how stupid is Milton Bradley?
Seriously.  I liked him when he was on the A's, but he's pretty much shown me in this one game what a stupid dick he is.

I can seriously see him going into the stands and fighting fans, but he would probably get hurt trying to climb the railing and have to go on the DL.....again.

billy is back to his old tricks
this is a terrible development. He had 2 strikes on two hitters and couldn't put them away. If he can't get it done we are in trouble.

everybody's bullpen sucks
look at the Padres pen this series. they're suppose to have the best and they've been lousy this series too. It's too many lousy starters not going enough innings. All bullpens are very tired.

Well
I come home after watching on my phone all day, and first thing I see is a double steal, then David ties it up with the sac.  Nice!

I really wanted to see Delgado get off the schneid and end it too...

drawing the walk
is better than nothing.

He has been a black hole lately, just sucking.

by citimetro on Aug 23, 2007 10:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Somehow
Our team WHIP is still the best in the NL. I can't get my mind around that...

by citimetro on Aug 23, 2007 10:31 PM EDT up reply actions

aaagh
I was trying to telepathically get Willie to send Castillo on a straight steal of home to avoid this. Their catcher is incompetent. It might have worked.

by citimetro on Aug 23, 2007 10:30 PM EDT up reply actions

Wow - what a great series.
I agree with eli - the bullpen is just tired.  The bats are alive and well, however, and the magic is definitely happening around Shea.  Bring up some arms to get us through September and we'll be ready to roll.  That was exciting, even though it's obviously disappointing that we let this one get away tonight.

2013 ALL-STAR GAME(TM) LOGO CONTEST

Major League Baseball has formally announced that Citi Field will be the site of the 2013 All-Star Game. (see video) In light of this, I have decided to launch an All-Star Game logo contest. To help get you started, I provided all of you with a sample All-Star Game logo. (click here to embiggen) If you wish to participate, please enter your submission with an image below, in the comments section. The contest ends on May 31st. I will choose a select number of finalists, and the community will vote on which of those logos is the best one.

Can you create a better logo than the sample logo provided? Then, give it a shot. Good luck to all participants!
Jon Rauch is awesome. Dan Tanna is, obviously, a fan of Greg Pomes.
LET'S GO METS GIF

By the way, I need some help here - is there any way to make this gif go faster? The "Let's" and "Go" sequences are only supposed to be 500 milliseconds each, and "Mets" a full second. Instead, each sequence is at least a full 1000 milliseconds (1 second) longer than it should be.
The first picture of a not devastated Tom Glavine after Game 162 of 2007 has finally been released.

(This is an old and kind of out of left field reference, but hey, we're playing the Marlins right now and John Maine just got released, so it's sort of relevant, plus I spent approximately 6.5 minutes making it and felt like I had to share.)
The reaction at Harrenhal Castle, payback was swift today!
