Honestly.
I’m offended this image is gracing this great website.

Went to college outside Philly
so I have a special hatred for anything that came from that city (except the Declaration on Independence, the Constitution, Cheesesteaks, and Rocky). What pisses me off the most is that in my 4 years there (2002-2006), I don’t think I saw more than 10 people wearing Phillies apparel, the only team they cared about were the Eagles. Now, all of a sudden, the Phillies are everyones favorite team, and you see people wearing Phillies crap all the time. Nobody even talks about the Eagles anymore. One of my best friends, a “die-hard” Phillies fan, just posted on his blog about how he went out and bought Phillies gear for the first time since the John Kruk era. Jimmy Rollins was right, they ARE front-runners.
So, in short, LETS GO RAYS (or Red Sox, if they pull off the comeback). I’m hoping Scott Kazmir throws the second World Series no-hitter against them, at least we will have contributed something to embarrassing the Phillies.

Go Rays!
If the Sox and Phillies play in the World Series, I’m cheering for simultaneous catastrophic earthquakes that destroy both cities. Bud Selig will declare a tie, no doubt.

I Still Can't Stop Thinking.....
With a decent bullpen and half as many blown saves (with even just 1/4 less) The Met’s run away with the division in 2008.

yep
All things being equal, but trade our bullpen for theirs, we win the division by 10 games. But as much as I hate them, you’ve gotta give them credit for building that bullpen, while Omar went with the craptastical ’pen we ended up with.

Just for the Record...
…not that anyone cares, there are some scenarios in which I’d cheer for the Phillies:
Yanks v. Phillies
Phillies v. Cheryl Crow
Edgar Renteria v. Phillies
Other scenarios in which I’d cheer for natural or environmental disaster:
Braves v. Phillies
People from Philadelphia v. Phillies
Steve Phillips v. Phillies

I would root for the Yankees
to sweep the Phillies and outscore them by a combined 57-0, with ARod hitting 8 HRs and Jeter batting 1.000, that’s how much I despise the Phillies.

huh
what do you have against Sheryl Crow?

Terrible music played everywhere.
Bad music is much worse when it is pervasive.

very funny idea
Yanks v. Phillies
Phillies v. Cheryl Crow
Edgar Renteria v. Phillies
i’m tempted to steal er, borrow it.
I think Crow’s first record, save one irritating song, was decent. But it’s hard to tell since that was before one could tell she definitely wasn’t hot, so maybe my judgment was clouded by perceived potential hotness factors, the kind that make men do all sorts of foolish things.

You win.
I’d root for a tie in that matchup. And by ‘tie’, I mean that the entire stadium and all of the people contained therein to be destroyed by some sort of a horrible natural disaster.

I think the comment to my dad last night was:
“Well, MLB looks like its gonna get the Series we’ve all been waiting for – Tampa Bay versus the Phucking Assholes.”
'Catsmeat!' he cried. 'I see it all. It was that chump, Catsmeat.'

well
I think both reactions to the poll question are correct.

Congrats, Phillies
I’ll be rooting for the Rays, of course, but the Phils earned this. I was pulling for them over the 84-win (good for 8th best in the NL) Fightin’ MannyTorres who every shit-for-brains baseball writer had suddenly fallen in love with.
I know I’m in the minority here, but I don’t think there’s any reason to begrudge the Phils this year. It wasn’t like last season when the Mets handed them the NL East crown on a silver platter. The Phillies were just better this year, in spite of the Mets taking the head-to-head.
And if (god forbid) the Red Sox manage to win the AL crown, I’ll be pulling for the Phils over the New Evil Empire.

There's plenty of reasons to root against the Phillies.
For one, they’re the Phillies. You root for them, you may as well be rooting for the Yankees.

Another reason to hate the Phillies
I saw a video of their fans celebrating last night, and one of them had a giant “Ya Gotta Believe” banner. I’ve actually seen/heard Phils fans use that phrase before. They think just b/c Tug McGraw played for them for a few years, they’re allowed to steal OUR phrase. Phuckheads….

I hate the Phillies, but...
I give them a lot of credit. They had the clutch hits in Sept and now Oct. I can’t stand them and wont root or them, but they deserve to be there.

The Rays will take care of this little Phillie problem you have.
My best friend is a Mets fan living down here in the Tampa Bay area and I was pulling for the Mets to get into the playoffs; but I knew once you guys added your third Reyes to your roster that it was the end, and I’m sorry about that. The Rays will take care of this problem, and you guys can feel free to revel in yet another soul-crushing dissapointment for the Philadephia area that the Tampa Bay area seems to have a distinct knack of delivering to that area’s teams and fans.
