Manuel Gets Two-Year Deal
No dollars were disclosed. I guess this means Bobby V. is off the table.

Just as well
I’m enjoying my stint in Japan too much to come back. No know-nothing reporters stirring shit up in the clubhouse. Plus, everyone respects a good disguise

Bobby as negotiating ploy
How interesting that soon after a few NY sports reporters were prompted to suggest that Valentine might be a fallback, Manuel’s agent backed off requesting more years and dollars. If only Omar could have handled all of the club’s contract negotiations so skillfully (cough-Castillo-cough).
Hey! We got Jerry and the Bailout on the same day!
Well, one out of two ain’t bad.
P.S. That guy Balfour for the Rays? He’s a tool.

Uh Oh!!
On his first full day as the Mets’ long-term manager, Manuel forcefully attacked the SABR-type mathematical analysis some have fixated on in recent years.
“You get so many statistical people together, they put so many stats on paper, and they say, well, if you do this and you score this many runs, you do that many times, you’ll be in the playoffs,” he said.
