Fire Joe Morgan calls it quits
Well, it isn't exactly surprising, but (with apologies to Eric, who runs a great blog) this was my favorite baseball site ever. I'm sure it got way bigger than they guys who ran it could've possibly dreamed of.
What was great about it was that those of us who think intelligently about baseball (and get shit for it from dumbass sports journalists) finally had a way to strike back and strike back with vicious humor. Some journalists reacted by cleaning their acts up (remember HatGuy?), and some reacted with hostility (that prick Jon Heyman). A few of the better journalists (Jeff Passan) mentioned the site with approval. I'm sure the more prominent sabermetricians just sat back and smiled.
It got to the point where (I swear) Joe Morgan actually cleaned his act up a bit this year. Someone must've told him that he was becoming a huge joke among younger baseball fans, or something. You could see it in the JoeChats which were nothing but FJM fans baiting Joe.
So three cheers for what these guys accomplished. They will be missed.

Noooooooooo!!!!
Nooooooooo!!!!!! I suppose I should have seen this coming. It has been 2 weeks since their last update, and they’ve been much less frequent these past few months.

#$!&@* the heck?
I don’t have it bookmarked or anything, but every few weeks I would go read it when I was bored. Fun to read… now we can do it more often and feel less like we’re copying them!

No doubt
One of my favorite sites ever. The Office had better be really fucking funny this season.

Definitely a step up from Season Four
But probably not at the peak operating level of Two and Three.
Hey Simons, thanks for that mealy mouthed “analysis,” where would we be without you? Next you’ll tell us that Oliver Perez was good in 2008 but not as good as he was in 2004. Move along.

it'll never be as good as seasons 2 and 3.
those were great because it was just them fucking around in the office. you can only do that for so long, unfortunately. it’s been decent this year.
anyway, fjm was one of my favorite sites. reading that site got me interested in sabermetrics and changed the way i thought about baseball.

Yeah
Maybe I was being a bit harsh. The first few seasons set such a high standard.

The first (half-)season was also incredible
Diversity Day? Health Care? The Alliance? There were only six episodes, but they were priceless.

DWIGHT>JIM
jim sucks. im sick of his and pam’s crap. i hope that dark haired chubby dude from madmen comes back from ny and starts boning pam and then jim jumps off the roof. then the show return the focus on to where it belongs, specifically creed and kevin.

Every episode is better if it has Creed in it
Or to put it another way: “I feel the need… the need… for Creed!”

jim's schtick has gotten old indeed
after 4 seasons, you’d think he’d stop with the constant incredulous looks/snarky remarks. see: most recent episode. michael pronounces canada in a different way (but obviously he’s saying canada) and jim HAS to say “where is it?” he’s a straight man for everyone else on the show. bleh.

this post was a classic
http://www.firejoemorgan.com/2006/01/chuck-klosterman-i-cannot-let-this.html
it had nothing to do with baseball, but calling out Chuck Klosterman is a cause I can get behind. I’ll continue the game: Kirk Hinrich is Craig Finn, David Lee is Colin Meloy, Kevin Love is the satanic love child of Jeff Mangum and Kim Gordon.

That's great
Steve Nash is Ted Leo.

Oh sweet
I thought I was the only one who couldn’t stand Klosterman. (Eggers can suck an egg too. Get it? He can go into a closet and suck eggs, Eggers can!) And any time you get to bitch slap Bill Simmons you’re livin’ right.
Thank you, Fire Joe Morgan. You will not be forgotten.
