Utley to have hip surgery; possibly out until June
Well, I suppose that this will help put Chase Utley's value to the Phillies in perspective. Tough break for a great player, but I'm sure us Mets fans will find a way to get over it . . .
Comments
I have mixed emotions about this
1) Yay, because Utley is awesome, and any debit of awesomeness for the Phillies is a net credit for the Mets
2) Boo, because Utley is awesome, I like watching him play even though he’s on the Phillies, and baseball is worse off without him.

My sentiments exactly
The dude is one of the best second basemen I have ever seen, and it is always a treat to see players of that caliber.
Note – I edited the title of the post. The report makes it clear that best case, Utley is out until April; worst case, Utley is out until June.

Utley's great
but I can’t be too upset by this. First: it helps the Mets. Second: you know Phillies fans would celebrate like they won the Series again if Wright was out for potentially half of next season. And third: Utley, good as he is, seems like a douchebag. Boo, f__ you.

You’re setting the bar for acceptable behavior pretty low there, my friend.

No
It’s pretty safe to say that most Phillies fans feel the same way about Wright that many Mets fans (at least those up-thread) feel about Utley: Hate what he does, but respect the hell out of him.
A worthy adversary, I guess.

Now if we were talking about the Phanatic being out 4-6 months . . .
unrestrained joy.
