Citi shares reverse course, sale talk optimism fades
So, where will the Mets be playing next year? From now on I will refer to the new Mets park as TBD Field.

I say we start a fundraiser
Maybe we can raise enough for one-day naming rights. We can call it “Shea 2: Electric Boogaloo.”

That's awesome
I’ve been referring to it as “New Shea” all along but your idea may be better.

Everyone who has bitched about "Citi Field"
deserves whatever shit-tastic name it’s gonna have if Citibank goes under. In the grand scheme of things, “Citi Field” was as good a corporate name as you could get: at least it sounds good (if they had just named it City Field, would anyone have complained?).
Maybe the government will bailout Citi, and they can re-name the stadium “Taxpayer Park” – at least it will be true.

I prefer geographical names because they are timeless
- Flushing Meadows Field
- Willets Point Park
- Corona Stadium (you could easily get a corporate sponsor for that one)
- Queens County Ballpark
- the Meadow Grounds
Take your pick.

In all honesty
I’d take something along these lines than any corporate/personal naming. I understand the economics of the thing but it would be great to have a name with some local meaning.

If there's one thing I admire George Steinbrenner for...
It’s refusing to sell naming rights to the new Yankee Stadium.

give credit to the Nats too
though, as far as I’m aware, the only reason they haven’t sold the name is b/c they can’t find anyone to sell it to. What a sad franchise.
