Daily News: 3 Years/$33 Million for Fuentes?
I like that Fuentes may be seeking only a three-year deal. But if $10-11 million per year is too much, then what is Omar thinking Fuentes is worth? Is this Omar doing a good job of playing in the deep closer market, or needless quibbling?

as long as its only 3 years
and the price isnt absurd i say sign him. ive said this many times, its not my money, theres no cap, as long as it doesnt stop the mets from committing money to other things that can help the club, i personally dont give two craps how much it costs.
obviously the caveat is if $30m+ over 3 years stops the mets from signing other sweet players, either this year or later, then no its not worth it.

Maybe it's not just the money,
it’s that we’re already paying so much to Wagner to not close. $10-11 million doesn’t seem absurd, especially if Rodriguez does wind up getting $15+/year. Still, if Omar really does think that’s too much, it may be time to examine cheaper options like Street or Hoffman. Really, anything to take his attention away from pursuing Raul Ibanez.

That's what I wonder
If this is indeed what Omar is thinking, it would appear that his desired alternatives are: a) K-Rod for $15 million per year for X years; or b) the bargain basement option. I know that adding the cost of Wagner’s contract into the mix makes everything more expensive, but I hate to think that Omar rates the over-valued K-Rod so highly that he will forgo cheaper pitchers with better numbers (oops, I mean HEY LOOK OVER THERE! MOST SAVES EVAR SHINY!!!)
'Catsmeat!' he cried. 'I see it all. It was that chump, Catsmeat.'

That's a good point
I’ll wait until Febuary for our closer situation to be settled if it means that Omar “misses out” on Ibanez.

Omar
I think he is just not that high on Fuentes for some reason. The price seems about right to me.

There are times when I do believe that Omar is indeed high.
