What the hell Peavy?
ESPN states that San Diego Padres starting pitcher Jake Peavy would be interested in pitching for the following teams: Braves, Dodgers, Cubs, Cardinals or Astros.
The New York Times reports he would also be interested in pitching for the New York Yankees because he grew up wanting to play in pin stripes. He goes on to state that he would prefer to stay in the NL where he knows the hitters better than he does in the AL.
WELL MR. PEAVY, DID YOU KNOW NEW YORK HAS A "NATIONAL LEAGUE" TEAM? THEY'RE CALLED THE METS!!!
Oh...I guess the contract he'd be asking for would be impossible for the METS.
STILL!!! How about at least mentioning the METS? What are we? Chopped liver?

He probably talked to Rollins and HanRam
and they convinced him that we are the Nazi’s of the National League…
Oh hell
I wasn’t gonna go there cos, y’know, seemed a little heavy-handed but now that it’s out there, I’m a little sad I didn’t get there first.

Personally, I think METS bloggers are better than this.
I think we should avoid these kind of comments altogether.
Yes, I understand there’s free speech, but then there’s good taste. An example of speaking before thinking can be found at the following link:

That Texas kid
Hardly a good equivalent for Josh’s comment but I get your point. In any event, meh. I think we police ourselves pretty well.

Yes, I may have exaggerated, however, I believe it's prudent to err on the side of caution.

the guy wants to play for the Braves and not the Mets
I reserve the right to bash him if I feel like it, justifiably or not!
As I said...
…We all have the right to “voice” our opinion.
Doesn’t mean that the opinion is tasteful. I will continue to defend your “right” to say it, but I wouldn’t have you writing my stump speech. ;-)

i think he wasn't being 100% serious..
nothing to get upset about.
aggghhhh!
intonation is so hard to determine in electronic written format.
i’m not upset. actually, i’m quite stoic at the moment. i would have hoped my fan post would have elicited some information about Peavy’s objection to playing for the METS.

Oh, is that what this is?
Right. I think the theory accepted commonly is that Peavy doesn’t want to play in the Northeast, but he will make an exception for the Skankees because they, y’know, wear pinstripes. Something along those lines.
Anyway, I agree with sokojoe’s notion that at least he isn’t jerking with the Mets or using us as a bargaining chip.

Appreciate that CPP
Thanks for the analysis.
I’m trying to tone down my rhetoric during the off-season to be taken “a little” more seriously for the ’09 baseball season. However, I recognize the fact that we only get one chance to make a first impression…(See Sarah Palin)

I see your point though
it’s tough, in this medium, to tell that I wasn’t seriously making that generalization about the good people of Alabama
Good
I don’t want him. I like him, but all signs point toward becoming a 2-3 starter, rather than a 1. I’m glad he isn’t trying to toy with the Mets here.
Who's world is it? It's yours.
I'd rather
have Peavy than CC. Much rather.

i'd rather have greinke
though i doubt even dayton moore is stupid enough to trade him
Moore has done a good job valuing pitchers (think Gil Meche)
He just sucks at valuing hitters, so no, I doubt Greinke is going anywhere.

Now C.C. doesn't want to play in New York?
I’m sorry, when the hell did playing in New York become “not” the thing to do? I am just stumped by this. Link to P. Gammons story below.
