Pretty interesting article and then discussion on our rotation, or lack thereof.

I'm not even sure I'm that encouraged
by Pelfrey and Maine.

Agreed
Met fans expecting a 3.40ish ERA from Pelfrey may be in for a surprise. Even if Maine’s 100% healthy I’m not sold on him.

Good discussion at BBTF
I’m all for signing Ben Sheets to an incentive-laden deal if he doesn’t find anything better elsewhere. He has as much upside as anyone left on the market, though that is mitigated — perhaps significantly — by his, umm, proclivity for physical breakdown.
Chris Dial hates Garland because of his downward-trending numbers, but he isn’t going to be looking (or, at least, likely to receive) a four- or five-year deal. The Mets should be able to lock him up for two years with an option for a third at reasonable money (< $10 million per). He’s not a front-of-the-rotation guy, but if he can eat innings and perform at or above average, he’ll be plenty valuable as a #4 or #5.

Sheets
I think he could be a great addition if his innings were manages correctly, ala Harden. Why on earth would the Brewers let this guy throw complete games? Makes no sense. Sure, they made the playoffs, but barely, and it cost them dearly in the playoffs because Sheets was definitely not himself.
Anyway, I would be down with signing Ollie and Garland. However, from reading this article I am inclined to believe that our best course of action would be to sign Ollie and then a bat for LF and go with Niese/Parnell in the 5th spot. The only problem with that is it hurts our SP depth and eliminates Parnell as a BP candidate.
