Petition to sign Manny!!!
Hey guys just wanted to share this petition with you guys. I personally think if we could somehow get the Wilpons attention that maybe they will feel some pressure (ie what happened with Piazza) to sign Manny or at least consider the option. Manny is an absolute stud with the bat and would he the perfect way to open Citifield Manny Ramirez would put us over the top. Get Manny, lets do this! cmon! Everyone please sign!!!!

Didn't he reject 2 years, $45 million from the Dodgers?

I want things I can't have, too.
The longer Manny waits, the lower he’ll have to drop his price.

Or he could just take the offer from the Dodgers
It hasn’t been “officially” pulled from the table has it?
But either way I don’t think it’s money per I think it’s years. I imagine if we offered him something ridiculous like 18 per over 5 years, which I absolutely wouldn’t want to offer him, he’d be more likely to take it to than 50/2

Time for a Smart Decision
As a lifelong Mets fan, filled with disappointment season after season, I’m very disappointed that the Mets are sitting idly by as one of the league’s top 5 hitters is there for the taking in an position we need to fill. With all the increased capital from SNY, the new stadium, and the royalties from the plethora of Manny gear you would sell, I can’t see how the Mets position could be anything other than an all out effort to sign him. With the revamped bullpen, a clutch hitter like Manny and the host of other talent we have, it would be enough to catapult us as a top contender to represent the National League in the World Series for the next 3 years. I hope the management reads this and will consider the feelings of the fans. We haven’t won a championship in a generation. Thank you.

IT'S A MUST
Manny is one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. No matter how much of a pain he is he is a producer. Everywhere he goes he just produces. We need a guy like that, he has better number than anyone in our division. He is exactly what the Mets need, the guy just does not CHOKE!!! If we sign Manny for 4 years 80 million. That is four playoff births and two World Series Wins!!!!!! I GUARANTEE IT!!!! LETS GET HIM PLEASE!!!

Sign Manny!!
We need a left fielder and we need another big bat in the line up. There just happens to be one of the best hitters in all of baseball available. And he plays LF. Oh and he’s from NYC too!
Why not sign Manny to a 3 year deal, the man is worth it and would put the Mets in the top tier of baseball for all of MLB. Plus, he puts butts in the seats and would increase your sales.
C’mon, this really is a no brainer. It’s foolish not to sign Manny.

Speechless
How someone of Mannys ability can become a free agent at such a crucial time of need for the Mets leaves me speechless.
What leaves me dumbfounded is the fact he isn’t going to end up on the Muts.
We can talk about his numbers and his swing and his defence all you want but all it really boils down to is attitude.
The man gives the Mets the set of ‘stones’ they have been missing for nearly a decade. For once I’d love people to fear the Mets instead of bully them.
Man-Ram is the great equalizer.

This is hi-larious
Did Scott Boras have a bunch of people in his office join AA today just to comment on this thread?
Oh, wait, couldn’t be. Boras would be suggesting much bigger contracts than the ones proposed in the comments here.
'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

CPP
You know what? Something smells fishy here. Who are all of these new joins? :-) Could it be a couple of people are just creating different accounts and supporting this? Noooooo. Couldn’t be. That kind of manipulation is reserved for those in the finance industry.

And public relations.
PR firms like to troll blogs pretending to have things to say. Not that I’m accusing anyone here if being dishonest in their desire to bring Manny to Queens.

Wilpon SIGN MANNY NOW!!!
We need the 86 Mets Attitude back. Couple Manny with Reyes swaggert, and the bats of Delgado, Wright, Beltran, Church, and we will be feared.

The 2009 New York Mets:
The swaggert is back.
'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

I dunno.
I just can’t see Bill Swaggerty being the missing piece of our bullpen. The guy wasn’t very good 20 years ago, and now he’s 52! Unless he’s another Jamie Moyer.

One thing that's bothering me
Is this talk about Giants and Manny. What’s up w/the Giants? Do they think they are going to contend in the West or are they just after the name on the back of the jersey so that they can pull in some money via ticket / jersey sales? IMO it would be another waste of a great bat ala the Barry Bond years. I’ll be awfully pissed off to see him go there.
I'm a baseball fan. What did you expect?
by LOUtheMETandNATSfan on Jan 2, 2009 4:19 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I think it's safe to say the Giants are confused
But that being said if they can get Manny I think they might be able to contend this year. Their rotation should be dominant and they’ve improved the bullpen. The problem is, as its always been with their current front office, they seem to have absolutely no long-term plan and only seem to be building for short term success.
by Gina on Jan 2, 2009 5:23 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
They're already going to waste the Tim Lincecum years.
The West is weak enough where the Giants could contend. But like Gina said, there’s absolutely no strategy in place for the team, just a series of moves made more or less in a vacuum.

seriously.
I’d like to welcome the newcomers. I’d also urge them to raise the level of discourse to that of the rest of the site.
There are many reasons that this place is not a cesspool—let’s keep it a smart and interesting forum.
We've got ourselves a ball club, the Mets of New York town!

Flushing Manny
doesn’t sound as good as Manny-wood but if it means he’s in LF than I’ll take Flushing Manny. Maybe the name of new SNY reality show???
