Community Projection: 2008 Season

In the spirit of Eric's ongoing series, I suggest a projection of the entire 2008 season, game by game.

I have entered the 2008 schedule below the fold. Make your projection (W/L) for each game and paste it in either a single row of comma delimited or 9 rows with no delimiting.

wow, thats a lot of work
can i just say, 94 wins, nl east champs?

by kendynamo on Feb 8, 2008 1:48 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

i say 95 wins
they are clearly the favorites now....they may even get to 100 depending on how competitive the bottom feeders of the nl east are in the 2nd half of the season.

by the way, not sure if this was brought up yet, but here's a good preview of the 08 squad:

The Mets will win 102 games this year.
That's for the regular season.  They will then sweep their first round opponents (San Diego), take the NL 4-2 over Arizona, then win the WS 4-2 over Boston.

Then I will enjoy a large re-heated home-made fudge brownie with an extra-large scoop of vanilla ice cream on it.  Then I will happily pass out for 2 days.

Watch me paste this pathetic palooka with a powerful paralyzing perfect pachyderms percussion pitch.

1. Johan, 2. Pedro, 3. El Duque, 4. Maine, 5. Ollie!

Are you utterly insane?
Pardon my lateness, I've been very busy lately. But I'm not going to do that! Here's my prediction: 97-65 and NL East Champs, 3-0 over the hapless Cubbies, 4-2 over the Diamondbacks, 4-3 over the Tigers.
1. Johan, 2. Pedro, 3. El Duque, 4. Maine, 5. Ollie!

I was inspired by Eric's comment that Olerud had the best 3-year run as a Met outside Carlos Beltran to look at a few different Mets, and when I noticed that two of my all-time favorite players (Alfonzo and Strawberry) were kinda screwed by having (relatively)bad seasons in between some really good seasons, I decided to see which Mets had the best 3 seasons, period (non-consecutively). Beltran still comes out on top, but my all-time favorite player Alfonzo comes in 2nd place, and him and Straw are the only two to have three 6.0+ WAR seasons. Also interesting that Hundley comes out ahead of Gary Carter, Cleon Jones almost finishes ahead of Mike Piazza, and Joe McEwing doesn't make the list.
