Roster Moves
Brady Clark and Raul Casanova made the team.
Here's hoping that Clark actually gets some at bats. He doesn't have any power, but he can still get on base at a decent clip. Angel Pagan doesn't even have veteranness.

This team is going to be hard pressed to score runs in the early season, until we see Alou back, or pick up a replacement left fielder who can actually hit. Even a monster bounce-back season from the aging Delgado (unlikely enough as it stands) isn't going to be enough to score at more than a low-to-average clip with glaring holes at 2B and LF and likely average production at RF. The plan is to win on pitching for now, I guess, but I feel this team could have bettered its weak bench with so little effort that every Pagan/Chavez/Clark start is going to grate a little.
I couldn't agree
more. Mets can expect average or below production from five positions: C, 1B, 2B, LF, and RF (except for the 100 or so games Alou plays in LF)--which means anything less than All-Star-level production from Wright, Reyes, and Beltran spells real trouble for the offense. I've gotta lotta confidence in the pitching staff, but enough to think it can carry us with average or below offense? I don't know.
As long as there are history tests, there'll be prayer in school.
