Around SBN: Explaining the Mets' bullpen struggles Bar-right-arrows

Moises Alou's Balls

Moises Alou has a hernia, which will require surgical repair. He is expected to miss four-to-six weeks.

The injuries are piling up, and I'm going to post a compendium of them tomorrow. Who takes over for Alou now that he will probably miss all of April? Endy Chavez hasn't played a spring training game yet.

This guy is still looking for work. Plays left field. Can hit a little bit.

fuck on the Alou injury
No way we sign Bonds. At that point you may as well put a big top on Shea and have a dancing Elephant perform between innings, the circus would truly be at Shea.

Agree on Bonds
Plus isn't he scheduled to be in court soon?

I just checked out Bonds' stats.  Juice or no juice, jerk or not, the guy is an amazing hitter.  He walked 232 times in 2004!  The guy just won't swing at a bad pitch.  Unreal.

oy
Not a good sign.

What's Plan B, Omar?  Perhaps we'll be seeing Jesus Fernando Martinez Alvarez before September...

We've got ourselves a ball club, the Mets of New York town!

Trade
I imagine that Sosa for Thames talk is about to heat up.

Bonds
I would fully support that move.

BB
I mentioned to Blackfish on IM tonight that the balls it would take to sign Bonds would likely cancel out the lack of balls that led to trading away Lastings Milledge. Bonds critics would say that two wrongs don't make a right, but I am a Barry Bonds fan and would endorse any effort to bring him here.

Having said that, the odds of them signing Barry Bonds are about the same as of them signing Bobby Bonds, so the point is probably moot.

Bonds
I can't stand Bonds but I might support the signing considering his amazing ability if I was sure he wasn't going to be on trial during the season.  Do we have any idea when his perjury trial is scheduled to start?

NOOO Bonds
No way.  He is just like Ricky Henderson..All about themselves.  We need team players.  He is to much of a distractiona nd plays when he wants to play.  Lets grind it out with youth

what youth
and so what if he's selfish? It's not like basketball where you have to pass your teammates. But I still oppose the move simply for the media circus it would create.

Great platoon with Alou in LF...
...provided the league will let them chase fly balls in those little motorized trikes geezers use to get around in supermarkets and malls.

more balls for Beltran
He and Ichiro! could make a play for the PO record for outfielders.

It would be like McGwire/Sosa, only with a lot more running.

sign bonds!
i could care less of the fans and media have a problem with him.  as long as he doesnt f with he clubhouse too much.  if hes only making 5-7 mil this year and he doesnt get his own recliner and wing of the locker room (that treatment in the mets clubhouse retired with franco) then everyone should be able to go about their business.  i mean cmon, everyone is a professional.  how many millions of people work with insufferable assholes everyday?  i know i do.

no way
I don't think the Wilpons are gonna want to shell out the dough for another top hat in the bleachers. Only this one has a big syringe coming out every time Bonds hits a "homer."

Even without the drugs, Bonds is an offense to the game because of his external cheating device (elbow pad).

Finally, Bonds' play in the outfield is literally nauseating. My stomach feels ill when I watch him try to run on those knees. Let him sign with an AL team.

Serious?

THE NEW FACE OF THE METS...ENTHUSIASM!!

I don't have too much to add gang. I think the picture speaks for itself. I'm not too much of a stats geek, I just go off of what I see from the players and the Win / Loss column. This pic was taken from Thursday's phenomenal game against the hated Phillies! I can't remember the last time David Wright got this excited about scoring a run or making a play. It really feels good to see the entire team enjoying a win. The team desperately needed this. I NEEDED THIS from David Wright. It just gives me goose bumps.
