Open Thread - Game #22: Mets vs. Braves (04/25/2008)
Atlanta Braves at New York Mets, Apr 25, 2008 7:10 PM EDT
Mike Pelfrey has made three good starts in a row, though he ran into a bit of bad luck his last time out against the Phillies.
Jair Jurrgens has been very solid for the Braves through four starts. He was acquired this past offseason in the deal that sent Edgar Renteria to the Tigers. Renteria was made expendable by the emergence of Yunel Escobar.
Brian Schneider is in the hospital with a staph infection and Carlos Delgado is being given the night off in favor of Marlon Anderson. Here is the Mets' starting lineup:
Reyes SS
Castillo 2B
Wright 3B
Beltran CF
Church RF
Pagan LF
Anderson 1B
Casanova C
Pelfrey P
Not exactly the powerhouse many of us envisioned in March. Well, there's always this guy.

Maybe a benching will light a fire under Delgado
We can only hope.

Clutch RBI walk by Beltran.

What an asshole
If he really cared about winning he would’ve swung at those balls outside the strike zone.

it was pretty selfish, too

hey Josh
Any interest in going to Monday’s game with me and DoctorK16? I have a couple of tickets and was looking to get some Amazin Avenue folks together.
Anyone else here interested?

Appreciate the invite
But next week is going to be one of those “at work late every night” weeks unfortunately. Thanks anyway.

Reyes is starting to hit the ball harder
Just right at fielders, the last couple. Maybe he’ll pull out of it soon. He still doesn’t look patient though.

Actually, I phrased it as "Brave who sucks but kills the Mets"

When the team's only runs
Came via bases loaded walks, I think the Mets deserve to lose.

Pedro
When is Mr Martinez available? Mr Pelfrey is good, although unpredictable. More hits with runners in scoring postion is needed. Mr Castillo struggles and makes Mr Reyes struggle without protection. Perhaps Mr Church should hit second, and Mr Alou play firstbase when he arrives.
