Buckner's return to Fenway
Kudos to Boston, the managment and the fans:

That long, warm ovation and the sight of so many players (to include former Bruins) sincerely cheering Buckner and the obvious affect it had on him brought tears to my eyes.
Like any Mets fan old enough to have witnessed that fatefull ground ball to first off Mookie's bat, that play and the exultation that followed is a distinct part of what keeps me coming back for more even during the bad times (such as now, or during and after the Collapse).
Nevertheless, Buckner was too good a player to deserve being branded forever with E3.

History is written by the winners
The myth-making hangs the albatross on Buckner, who only blew an inning-ending play, not a game-ender. MacNamara, Schiraldi, and Stanley have gotten a relatively free pass for decades on the strength of the "Nation's" need for a scapegoat, and the media's love of that clip. So good for the fans... at long last.
I did it like this / I did it like that / I did it with a Wiffle Ball bat

Agreed
Schiraldi allowed seven runs in three aggregate innings in Games 6 and 7. There's no "moment in time" snapshot of that, so ultimately the blame falls on Buckner, deserved or not (read: not).
