Around SBN: Mets Fans Say Good-Bye To Shea Stadium Bar-right-arrows

Mets make several moves: NYPOST.com

DFA'd: Jorge Sosa, Nelson Figueroa
DL'd: Angel Pagan
Recalled: Matt Wise, Claudio Vargas and Fernando Tatis

Kudos to the Mets for doing what's right instead of what's cheap. Demoting Joe Smith, one of the more consistently solid bullpen arms they've had this year, would have been a mistake. Cutting bait with Jorge Sosa, who has been terrible despite his $2 million pricetag, was the right goose to fry.

And as I mentioned this morning, the shine is off the turd otherwise known as Nelson Figueroa. His comments last night about the Nationals might have been the icing on the cake, but his terrible pitching is what got him canned.

Yea!

That is all.

We've got ourselves a ball club, the Mets of New York town!

kudos

The one small problem here is that Pagan has been (quite unnecessarily) used as a pinch-hitter several times in the last few days, making it impossible to backdate his DL-ing. With Alou seemingly in one piece again this isn’t such a huge problem, but I’d rather have a healthy Pagan than Endy Chavez as the 4th outfielder as soon as that’s possible.

Good moves

Wise and Vargas can’t really be any worse then Sosa and Figueroa.
Tatis is a bit of an enigma, I don’t know what to reasonably expect from him.

The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

With history as our judge

It’s either two grand slams in one inning or nothing at all.

I'd settle for

2 grannies during his Mets tenure.

his OPS is .937 though

nothing to sneeze at IMO

True dat

He’s drawing walks and hitting for power. Kinda like Angel Pagan’s first week of the season. Let’s just say that I have extremely low expectations for Tatis; if he can do anything at all above replacement level I will be pleasantly surprised.

Worth a shot

AAA isn’t the majors but 12 HR in 36 games is thoroughly decent.

By the way, I had Tatis on my fantasy team when he hit those two grand slams (off future Met Chan Ho Park). That was pretty sweet. I actually even remember exactly where I was when it happened, JFK assassination-style.
