STATEMENT SERIES: LET'S GO METS!!!

Well it's pretty clear that the Diamondbacks are the best team in baseball after april. I'm not saying they will be all season, but right now they are. This can be a big statement series for the Mets or it could become a major coming out party for the young, hungry and energetic D-Backs. I'm glad Billy Wagner called out the Mets players after getting stomped by the Pirates...yes the Pirates. The team playing in that game looked like the same team that was playing in the Cubs 2 game series. Not to mention that team from last year. It's time for the Mets to start hitting! If they struggle to hit in Arizona, they won't be able to blame the weather.  Chances are we won't beat Brandon Webb, but let's take 2 out of 3! It's time for the Mets to make a statement!

Let's go Mets!

I’m on board with everything you’ve got down here.

just perusing

I am a DBack fan just perusing to see if you guys were breaking down the series at all and saw this.

Although I do not disagree with you that this is a big series for the Mets, I will also give you the other side of the coin….the Dbacks have only beat one team with a winning record (the Dodgers) so far this year (and note that it took a 6 game winning streak for them to get to that winning record…) so it will be interesting to see what the next 7 against the Mets and Phils holds for this team.

BTW, going to the game on Sunday and can honestly say that I haven’t been this ready for a game in a long time. Santana v. Haren…..two guys stolen from the AL going head to head….could be a special game to watch

thanks for stopping by

Don’t worry, sensible and articulate fans of other teams are always welcome here. I think Eric will have more content up on the upcoming series within a few hours, so stop by again. And I agree with you about the Sunday game being one to look forward to, but honestly I’m excited to see the Dbacks’ young pitchers again in all of these games (even though I don’t like the Mets’ chances against them and I wish the rotations had lined up differently).

Agreed,

though I am still not sure how much the Dbacks have to do with everyone else in the NL West having such lousy records. The Rox swept the Braves and the Dodgers swept the Fish.

All this having been said, I think having our #3 guy (Pwnings) pitch today and our #1 (Webb) pitch tomorrow gives us a good chance to take the first two. Our #1a (Haren) vs. the Mets’ #1(Santana) should be a helluva pitchers’ duel, and I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see Haren take his second loss of the year.

Frankly, I can’t wait for Santana to match up against Webb at some point… two of the top 3 pitchers in the NL, and perhaps all of baseball, going at it. Much like last weekend’s Webb-Peavy duel.

I hope you Mets fans don’t mind a few Dbacks fans possibly coming by to talk baseball over the course of this weekend. We haven’t gotten a chance to see the Mets play, being in the NL East and the Grapefruit League, so we’ll be curious. We also hope to see a bunch of you visiting the ‘Pit. We love (polite, respectful) visitors.

At the very least, stop by to wish us luck, as Max Scherzer gets his first MLB start against the Phillies on monday….

I just picked up Scherzer in my fantasy league, so I have more than one reason for wanting him to son Philadelphia on Monday.

I want Micah Owings in the middle of our lineup! What do you guys want in return? We have Jorge Sosa…lol!

o and sorry if you didnt want me posting

I know San Diego fans are a bunch of douche bags that never want ‘the other sides take’ but I figured I would let you guys know that this is big for us as well (although way too early in the season to put too much weight on).

thanks

I've only posted here once or twice before, but I've lurked,

and I can tell you they most definitely are NOT Gaslamp Ballers here. Fortunately.

no, it's cool

As long as folks are reasonable, this site is very open to differing points of view.

Just don’t be an asshole, and most posters here will respect you.

I always look forward to when the Mets

come to town. They always draw well and it creates a good atmosphere at the yard. Plus, any chance to see David Wright and Jose Reyes is always fun.

So who on the Mets have been the biggest disappointment so far?
What is going on with Former Snake Duaner Sanchez (has he pitched since the taxi cab crash)?

by Augie's Army on May 2, 2008 7:53 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think the biggest disappointments on the Mets so far are Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes. I would also add Carlos Delgado, but i really didn’t expect much from him anyways. He’s on his way out of the league. Beltran’s hitting the ball hard and drawing walks but 2HR’s and a .211 average ain’t gonna cut it. As for Reyes he’s had a couple really good games, but he’s still only hitting .250. Not to mention he has not played on defense yet. It’s still early though.
