Chipper and C-Del sharing dirty jokes at first?
Looked like they were half-covering their mouths to ward off the ilp readers
Awful
Castillo, whose scarcity of whiff is one of his few offensive strengths, strikes out with two runners in scoring position and the pitcher on deck.
he doesn't strike out much
but he doesn’t hit it deep enough for a sac fly either
it’s grounder, slap hit, or nuttin’ at all
scarcity?
He seems pretty whiffy to me these days—but maybe that’s just the first stages of decomposition.
not that I'll ever win shit
But keeping up with the swag contest is damn near impossible sometimes. I’m in London this week, and I’m trying, but the timing sucks. Eric, is there any way the form can go up early early before each game?
By the way, the Mets suck. Where do they start fixing that problem?
We've got ourselves a ball club, the Mets of New York town!
How early?
Just bookmark the game form - it’s the same URL every day - and check it. I typically update the questions by noon EDT, though the link doesn’t get posted until the game form. You can fill out the form as soon as it’s available, not just once I’ve posted the link. Again, the URL of the game form doesn’t change.
nah, I know you're pretty consistent
The timing has just been awful for me lately. And of course I’ve gotten burned on a few weekends because I don’t get up early enough.
Sorry, I know beggars can’t be choosers. I just never seem to be getting onto the site at the right time lately. (Except yesterday, when I had the Mets winning by large margins in both games, even though I was predicting from overseas.)

let's quit while we're ahead
game called on account of the Mets having a lead and their fans not being able to take it any more
alouuuuurgh
Nice to have someone earning the “man of glass” mantle.
seriously
I can’t listen to that Tomahawk thing anymore

there are only so many ways to lose a ballgame
and the mets just added one. bad news bears level defense plus young pitching +no offense =failure

let's speculate on what moises succumbed to...
fear of bears? allergic to hicks? forgot to add the fabric softener/turn the iron off/vote in the democratic primary?

Off-Topic
I stayed home from work today with some kind of sinus infection and took the opportunity to re-watch half of the first season of 30 Rock. What a great show.
i smell 9-12 straight put outs for jar jar
30 rock is the best show on tv in my opinion, for laughs
I.M. Forme
I've never seen 30 Rock. What is it?
The Mets Geek thread is the most depressed and dark I’ve seen in a long time.
huh
never thought Tina Fey was that funny
I hate Arrested Development for reference
I like BBC’s The Office, the American version less so
Mr. Show, Upright Citizens Brigade, Kids in the Hall

Fey
Her character on 30 Rock is quite different from the one she played on Weekend Update. Definitely give it a shot.
Arrested Development was a tremendous show, so we’ll agree to disagree there.
Almost any sketch comedy - with the exception of MadTV - is good in my book. Kids, Show, SNL, UCB, Python, even short-lived stuff like the Dana Carvey and Ben Stiller Show.
As soon as HBO makes them available online
I’m there. There’s something unsavory about paying (even more than I already do) for television.
you are aware
that they are certain networks where certain files are shared, right?

well
I d/l episodes when I’m going to buy the DVD anyway. Nothing wrong with that, right?
by JohnPeterson on May 21, 2008 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions
iTunes
has The Wire, but only Season One. Still, that makes it $26 a season instead of $80 or whatever the DVD boxes go for.
Blastings really going against orthodoxy with the Arrested Development hate. That’s like being against on-base percentage here.

Sunny
Very funny show. It got a little full of itself towards the end of the third season, but still very enjoyable.
and i dont really care
to see so much fraternizing with the enemy (Reyes and Delgado yukking it up)—its one thing to keep losign to the br*ves without a fight, but are these guys entirely oblivious to why they get booed at home all the time?
I.M. Forme
i shall start my own bitching thread here
i was the last one resisting the anti-castillo bandwagon -all i can say is…thanks for saving me a seat!! If it is possible to singlehandedly lose a game, Luis just did it tonight. And he features what i would call “itsmetsforme power” at the plate-he should be ashamed that he can no longer hit, give the money back, and disappear into the night with only a goodbye note lovingly pinned to Jose’s pillow as evidence he was here.

Something about
Which Met player had a higher average than Moises Alou in his first 100 games as a Met.
Atlanta AFLAC
something along the lines of “Delgado had a .300-30-100 season in each league, name the three other guys that did it.” But I don’t remember the answer.
Closure
“I take full responsibility for what I said,” Randolph said. “It was out of frustration. I hope we can put closure to this matter and focus on winning a lot of baseball games.”
Hmmm… closure. Can’t imagine how we could get that.
sweet
another to add to the league-leading HR total for “On the Cust” of the Three True Outcomes league
Good for Reggie Bush
for catching Larry’s hr ball. GOod night Irene.
i can tell by the Br*ves faces that they have no respect for the Mets at all.
I.M. Forme
I would only be satisfied if they started marching Mets personel to the mound and firing them
jackasses on the FSN South is making a big deal out of the “Latin Influence”—saying that “he heard” Omar favors the Latins in disciplinary measures.
I.M. Forme
tying in Lo Duca, Wagner and Wright
as complaining about the ethnic divide in the clubhouse

but
what if its true
Save America. Impeach Bush
provide evidence
I think Omar deserves the benefit of any doubt. If a black player and Latin annoucer said this about a manager he would be accused of “playing the race card.” It’s unfair to Omar to call him a racist without proof.
Of course
I have no proof, but I think it is very clear that Omar is marketing the team to Hispanics. Doesn’t mean he’s racist
Save America. Impeach Bush
would it be ok
to market the Mets as a white team like the Celtics were accused of doing 25 years ago
Save America. Impeach Bush
the specific story atlanta ass was peddling was
that when jose reyes got disciplined last year, he went over willies head to omar(?)

by itsmetsforme on May 21, 2008 9:08 PM EDT up reply actions
so what
and he ruled in Jose favor because he’s Latin? or because he’s one of his young star players? What the announcers said is even worse if that his proof. That’s flat bigoted to suggest that a Latin GM is favoring Latin players.
I repeat what if its true
would it be racist if it were true.
Save America. Impeach Bush
I never heard that
but how do we know it’s not true. it might be unfair speculation, but i don’t see it being racist
Save America. Impeach Bush
If the Mets keep this up
Willie will have to start worrying about how he’s photographed at his post termination press conference. This team just flat out stinks.
Save America. Impeach Bush
This ESPN broadcast
is one big Braves-lovefest. Not that I blame them. It’s better than talking about the Mets.
wonder what Omar is doing right now?
fiddling
pouring over Castillos contract looking for loophole
making thanksgiving plans for 2008
massaging Alou
shopping Fmart
texting hank steinbrenner about possible job opening
I.M. Forme
ugh
I’m beginning to think there’s something wrong with the Mets’ bats.
Not in a figurative sense, but like maybe the wood came from diseased trees or was cured improperly.
Or maybe some worker who died building Citifield is haunting them.
streaker
I guess Frenchie should take rest days more often if this is the result.
i invented a new term, coming through "in the crutch"
beltran just did.
sigh.
at least we didn’t sign Barry Zito.
Br*ves announcers doing their “high revenue teams” schtick. Oh please.
I.M. Forme
dumbass
They have the whole South buying their merchandise AND had their own tv network 20 yrs before anybody else. They’ve gotta be a high revenue team, even if they don’t spend it.
it's the "big city ways" nonsense
those guys are noxious

f this
I’m going to bed.
That’s exactly why Show is on the roster. To put the ki-bosh on comebacks before they start.
at least Wagner got into the game
so he has something to discuss with the reporters after the game
I.M. Forme
The best game in town.
The nicest show on telivision tonight was indeed American Idol, although my favorite David, the young man Archueleta, did not win. Mr Willie should be ashamed he is managing such a talented team to lose so dismally 3 games in a row. Pedro is indeed needed now!
