Hell Yeah!
Joe Torre is the man! Another manager I really like is Mike Scoscia of the Angels. Sorry I think I completely butchered his name.

Answer:
Not if Juan Pierre is going to be batting second and Russell Martin’s walks that far down in the lineup.

At this point
I’d take almost anyone besides Willie Randolph.

how great is it to watch
andruw jones suck?

larry is batting .412 or something absurd like that
by DoctorK16 on May 5, 2008 10:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
that's good
It’s hard to figuratively hate people.

actually...
it’s .425, with 9 home runs, 27 RBI, .717 SLG, and .472 OBP (for OPS of 1.189) Go Larry!

Billingsley
Got a bit of tank ass going on, eh?
by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 10:11 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
That was quick
Three up, one pop-up and two strikeouts.
by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 10:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i bet that tank ass is why he’s gonna be a strike out machine..lol.

Worked for El Sid
Amongst others. Jonathan Broxton is a big boy, too.

What's the likelihood Gary mentions Furcal's absurd BABIP?
One in a million?

that's one way to keep it up
Hard to make an out on a ball batted that far.

and again with calling him Bel-trann
I know, I know….
by Simons on May 5, 2008 10:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Better than Jon Miller
who pronounces it bel-TRON.
by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 10:20 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
?
Isn’t that, you know, more like the right way to say it? Not that I like Jon Miller in any way, you understand.
by anonymous on May 5, 2008 10:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
the correct way to say it is . . .
tranny.

As opposed to BEL-tron?
Not sure. I’m no master of ethnic pronunciation.
by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 10:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
excuse me, that's "pronunciation of color"
I think it is actually Carlos Beltrán, accent on the second syllable. Not that Miller speaks a word of Spanish—he probably just stumbled onto that by accident.

So is Schneider
Dude is a top-shelf defender. If he weren’t drawing so many walks he’d be useless.
by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 10:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I'm throughly unimpressed with Brian Schneider defensively

by DoctorK16 on May 5, 2008 10:25 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Control is definitely better
At least he’s making them hit it. They might hit it at somebody.
by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 10:26 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
seems he figured out how to cut down on the walks
but it means giving up base hits instead.

Not sure if it’s his thumb, or just overall suckiness, but Schneider looks terrible.
by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 11:20 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
His presence in the lineup
is more grounds for firing Randolph. Willie has no guts.
Coach, I want to play.
OK.

Willie has a soft spot for catchers
He used to have a thing for Gus Triandos

Did Pierre walk?
That’s grounds for a fine and suspension.

Good question. We're in the right city for it (Koufax, Drysdale)
wait, did Koufax bean guys?

4 runs seems insurmountable.
fire Willie imo
by JohnPeterson on May 6, 2008 12:14 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I'm hardly a Willie apologist
But I don’t think it’s really all on him that the Mets are having a hard time hitting good pitching.

Is Gary and Ron kidding with the Wise
thing? Sosa or Show have to be the ones to got, fuck there contracts. You can’t send out Pagan and Smith that would be a crime.
by DoctorK16 on May 6, 2008 12:24 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
unfortunately
they are not kidding. That is standard Mets’ operating procedure.
by JohnPeterson on May 6, 2008 12:28 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i mean some body needs to send
Omar and Freddie an copy of an Economics textbook with the section on sunk costs highlighted. You can let $2 million dollars derail a team with a $140 million payroll with the expectation to win the world series.
by DoctorK16 on May 6, 2008 12:32 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
WTF?
It’s that expectation which screwed us last year. Stop expecting a World Series this year. We play too many half-ass, no-enthusiasm efforts like this game tonight where we make less-than-average pitchers look like gods.
We have a lot of work to do if we want to consider ourselves contenders.

look we're not perfect
but when you go out and get fucking Santana you’re expected to compete for it all. You’re negitivity is getting hard to swallow. Where were you when they won 2/3 this weekend.
by DoctorK16 on May 6, 2008 12:39 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I was there.
It’s not negativity, just calling it as I see it. I’m not a cheerleader, and I’ve been watxching baseball since 1985. This is not a contending team—right now.

Billingsly has legit talent and stuff. Can’t kill them after the job they did this weekend.
by DoctorK16 on May 6, 2008 12:33 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
MEh.
Almost saw him pitch when I was out in LA last month. He was supposed to face Lincecum, but the game was threatened with rain and both managers held them out. I don’t think Billingsley ever came in, but I remember Lincecum did come in for a few innings and shut the Dodger fans up. :-)
I just expected more output with Alou and Schneider finally both back in the lineup. Little dissapointed.

Billingsley has struck out massive amounts of guys so far this year
Over 13 K/9 innings. He’s been victimized by BABIP in the same way that Beltran has thus far. Before tonight’s game his BABIP against was .397, that’s just insane. It sucks that his luck seems to have improved against the Mets, but it’s not like we just got beat by Jose Lima.

Nice cats
Are they the Mickey Lolich cats? Joe Torre is reborn as a manager, although a good team with good relief pitchers can cover his mistakes. I’ll take Mr Randolph for one more year.
