Need a pitcher or wine expert?

Our old friend Steve Trachsel is available!  The Mets can return to having wine-tastings on out-of-town trips, and they would have a proven-veteran only a couple years removed from a 15-win season.

I'm sure he can win his first couple NL starts, and that should do wonders for his trade-value.  Some GM out there must be aching for a Vargas-Trachsel-Figeuroa trade on their resume, right?  What is Omar's phone number?

Team hasn't been the same since he left

Thought you meant Seaver

I might take “The Franchise” over “Rain Delay” right now.

The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

Might?

I’d rather have Seaver on my team than Trax, and Seaver is 63.

last night

Reminded me of how much I enjoyed Seaver in the booth. I’m not saying he’d replace anyone on the SNY team, but the man’s got a smooth delivery and knows the hell out of his baseball.

Yeah, I agree with you on that

Why did he and SNY part ways? (Was it SNY at that point?)

Not sure; vineyard calling?

He was the weekend guy with Dave O’Brien on WB/CW/whatever up through 2005 until SNY made the Gary/Keith/later Ron team a full-time deal, I believe.

I do not miss Fran Healy, in case anyone was wondering.

You make me laugh, Mr. Potter-Pirbright

You make me laugh. That is why I’ll kill you last!

Isn’t that the Governator’s line? From Commado I believe.

(Yes, I'm having too much fun with GraphJam)
I'm doing a little study on the NL East and thought I'd share an interesting little tidbit. To all of the self-loathing Mets fans/lazy 'MLB insiders' and journalistic parrots who have 1) Condemned the entire Mets organization as a joke 2) Written off this core's impressive run to date and 3) Deified the Phillies as unstoppable juggernauts w/ no chance to lose this division:

Yes, those wins are weighted towards '06-'07 and yes, the Phillies' are more recent but the fact remains that no other team in that span can even come close to the Mets total of days in first place, which should be garnering a lot more respect than it has. If only because we still have nearly the same core in place that has clearly had a lot of success and health-willing can very easily do so again in 2010.
