Report from Mets @ Giants Game 1.
It's that time of the year for me again...
So I just got back from the disgrace that was this game.
Oliver Perez has once again let me down when I goto San Francisco to watch the Mets. Nothing actually too interesting happened off camera. When Ryan Church went for that foul ball (over by the visitor's bullpen) and he didn't catch it, some idiot said, "If he was on the Giants, he would have caught it". Moron. Ryan Church is great. I'm glad he's back. Ollie....well. I have no idea. I was waiting and waiting for Willie to come out
The fans I sat around were all really cool. A father and son that sat in front of me were awesome and I shook both their hands afterwards and told them it was great to sit by them. I've been going to this series for the past three years and the fans at Giants games for the most part are really cool.
This was the hardest walk to the car though. A "Mets blow" was directed by me from some skater kid who was walking rather fast after he said it. Then a "Mets suck" in the parking lot. 1/9 isn't that bad.
I still can't believe they had to fly across the country after a night game and play another game the next day. I think that's just stupid. But that's my opinion.
Hopefully I'll have more to report on tomorrow. I'll be going to that game and the game after that.

are you preparing for a job w/the UN or State Department?
Developing relations w/the enemy heh? You could teach a thing or two to “W”. Just curious; What was it like attending this game sans Barry Bonds? Pretty sure it wasn’t a packed house. I’ve heard wonderful things about the ball park. Very picturesque is what I hear. How about the price for a dog and a brew?
If you get the chance I recommend PETCO park in San Diego. Fantastic facility. I live here in DC and the Nationals ballpark ain’t bad at all. Great lines from every seat, however the facade is pretty utilitarian. Too much like the rest of the buildings in the city. Not much too look at. Too blocky and greyish/white. Food’s too dang expensive and you better take the Metro. There is little to no parking.
Keep us posted! Hopefully Pedro will represent on Tuesday!

Haha.
I believe a hot dog is about five dollars and a beer is around 8. Yeah… The attendance was around 35,000 (or that was at least the paying attendance). Tickets were way easier to get this year then they were last year. StubHub had about two or three pages of tickets for each game. So you can see that without Bonds in the picture, attendance is down. Not as many Mets fans as last year though….
I actually went to PETCO in 2006. It was the game Pedro pitched, Nady hit a home run, and so did Piazza (even though he was on the Padres, I still cheered).
Parking was 30 dollars too.
I have a good feeling about today.

good feeling?
Heck yeah. I have a good feeling the Human Slot Machine is on the bench tonight.
I mean, wow, what is happening in that guy’s head right now? Last night on SNY, during the 1st inning meltdown, Keith mentioned how Ollie seems to have some mental block that keeps him from doing well after five innings. Is Ollie bored? Did he just want the night off last night? With his good stuff, it’s hard to watch him pitch so poorly.

ouch on the parking
That park does have solid public transit access, especially if you’re getting there from San Francisco—the N Judah drops you off like ten feet from the ticket windows, not a mile and a half away like at the NY stadiums. Get yourself some garlic fries if they still sell those puppies.

Parking for PETCO
O.K. this will be my last pitch for the Padres/PETCO (This is a METS site darn it). ; -)
There is a trolley service available. You can park in Horton Plaza, by a pack of gum, get the ticket validated and you’re set. (Horton Plaza is an outdoor type of mall). It’s about a 10 minute walk from the park. Plenty to see and on the way over. Prime location for a ballbark. San Diego did one phenomenal job putting that park downtown. Restaurants, bars, shopping, hotels everywhere. Great night life. Neat maritime district, beaches across the bridge. SWEET!

PETCO = awesome
I agree. It’s fun to walk in downtown San Diego.
Simons: I would have taken the public transit, BUT. The only reason anyone takes (at least in SF) that transit is to get totally wasted. Plus the Mets got stomped on and I really didn’t feel like getting in a fight with a idiotic Giants fan.
Oh, the garlic fries are still there. I plan on getting more tonight. Haha.
