ugh
How much does Lohse sign for next year? Like 6 yrs, $60M?
it's what Johan uses
Has anybody tried that apothecary liniment? It sounds like a quack snake-oil.
weak sauce
that 1st inning sucked
more wasted base runners, just bad luck this time, though
ye gods
the wild thing strikes like a cobra
I still like Armas more than Lima-time
Why is Castro playing?
After all that was made out of how Schneider and Armas have been together for so long this seems like a strange time to start Castro
sit back and enjoy the cosmic absurdity
beaten with the bat by rick ankeil, a guy who could probably beat us from the mound.
the cardinals broadcasters think Church should have scored on the Delgado hit, but the camera showed him trotting admiring the possible homerun. I tend to agree with them. It didn’t end up mattering, but when oh when will the Mets stress the fundies?

hip-pow!
This wellemeyer can’t dodge bullets forever.
Hippo is making the most of his one game this week.
We've got ourselves a ball club, the Mets of New York town!
He probably should be playing more
But that would mean admitting that Milledge was traded for a platoon catcher.
I'll give Omar credit for one thing
He’s picked up some pretty good (or at least serviceable) throw ins in trades. Church, Maine, and Perez were not the main players involved.
more!
they say hippos kill more people than lions in the wild.
Wow. I'm having 2006 flashbacks.
Break up the Mets!
The butcher and the baker and the people on the street, where did they go? To meet the Mets!

what is the theory there?
that’s the second time a met outfielder caught a foul ball thus letting a run score.arguments pro and con?
I was under the impression the object was to keep the opposition from scoring.

up four runs in the 6th its a no brainer
you want to reduce the number of outs the Cards have their. The only time it makes sense to drop the ball is in those situation where you would play the infield in.
there are the pros
what if the hitter is weak and the foul is strike two? what if your team gives up leads all the time? it may not be a no brainer all the time.

why you drop the ball when you were conceding the run
you’ve basically decided that you were content to concede the run with an out. So why would you be not content.
It's a no brainer most of the time
If it were the tying or go ahead run late in a game it may be worth dropping. Or maybe if it were just a runner on third. But in this case, with 1st and 3rd and no outs, it’s not worth the possibility of a big inning. Even if you drop the ball and the batter hits into a DP the run still scores. There is too much risk.
i'm more interested in the man on third situation late in the game
i don’t remember the exact situation last time, but i think it was Nixon and his weak shirley arm in left.

i mean
managers risk unorthodox moves occasionally. it is possible that you get some other kind of less costly out when the batter is given a “second chance” right?

I'm curious
Do you guys figure the outfielders are instructed by the dugout on what to do? Do they make the decision on their own? Do they just plain always catch it without thinking about the run?
i always imagine that the grass is greener on the other side
and other teams position their players, etc better than the Mets.
I also imagine that in the less routine plays they have to make their own decisions, akin to baserunners not always being directed by the coaches.

I'm not sold on it
That is to say, I’m not sold on whether the issue is maple bats per se, versus current bat design with the extremely thin handles.
Duaner seemed ok
walked off himself

Over/Under
On the number of decent starts Armas has before he goes the way of Sosa, Vargas, Figueroa, Williams, and Lawrence
