Glorious Pelf-Improvement
Mike Pelfrey is:
18th in the NL in ERA
20th in the NL in groundball-to-flyball ratio
His strikeout and walk rates are still not great, but they've been a lot better over his last three starts. Before those three starts he was pitching better, but the peripheral results were a little discouraging. Now he has 16 strikeouts and just two walks in his last 22 innings pitched. He also has 38 groundball outs to just 15 flyball outs in those three starts. That's a G/F ratio of 2.53, which would put him behind only Brandon Webb and Tim Hudson among NL starters were he to have posted that ratio for the whole season to date. That's the company that Pelfrey should aspire to find himself among, and even if he isn't really there yet, at least it's no longer embarrassing to imagine that one day he might be.
Big winners: Carlos Beltran, +22.2% WPA, Mike Pelfrey (pitcher), +20.8% WPA
Big losers: Damion Easley, -2.6% WPA, Mike Pelfrey (hitter), -2.0% WPA
Teh aw3s0mest play: Carlos Beltran da woot!, +20.5% WPA
Teh sux0rest play: Meaningless Brad Hawpe single in 4th, -4.7% WPA
Total pitcher WPA: +20.9%
Total batter WPA: +29.1%

Enjoy the break everybody!!
Very Very nice to see the Mets play this well, best they have played since 2006. Still think it is a capital offense that Reyes is not on the All Star team.
Hey guys
Not a regular poster but I attended the game of Mets vs the Rockies tonight and took pictures. Thought you might enjoy them.

Yeah I watched all the game....
I don’t have to keep my eye in the scope the whole time, and I only took pictures of a couple of players.

A nine game win streak.

Since we’re recycling “win” images, I think you should start using “tough guys from movies” images along with guitar gods, wrestlers, and the puppy with the gun. You know, Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman in “The French Connection”, Lee Marvin, etc. etc.
Also, I think Mick Mars has to be added to the guitar god collection.

Guitar Gods
I’m not sure if he’s been used yet but, Jimmy Paige has to be included.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
i think he was
so far the biggest sight, by far, is the lack of Herman Li. youve not heard sherding before if youve not listened to a herman li solo.
sorry guys
but in addition to being raised by wolves, i specialize in 80s shred style guitar, and Mick Mars sucks—always has and always will. Herman li is a gimmicky also ran. And its “Page” not Paige. I may not be able to catch a pop up, but I will set you straight here. Just ask.

Page vs Paige
I wasn’t sure which was right, so I googled the Paige version, and there were so many site listing both versions, so I went with Paige.

ah im just messin with you
when i was a younger, more serious lad, my pet peave was that the guitar god moniker is as over extended as the supermodel label. in my opinion it can’t be extended much beyond hendrix, clapton, page, van halen—guitarists who were great but also had a distinctive historical impact on the way we play and on the music we listen to. And maybe include those who are so great and distinctive they can’t be denied: Vai, Johnson, etc. There are kids sitting in their bedroom who can shred but are just bothering their parents. It’s like a Hall of Fame argument.
But everyone can like who they want.

wow that would hurt to actually play, and hurt
in a place that you don’t necessarily want to hurt.

To be clear
I only recycle the images when the score is the same. Basically, there’s one win/lose image per result. The Mets happened to win 7-0 earlier in the week, this the quick repeat. I’ve never actually reused the same image for two different results.
ah, I see
But it would still be cool to see Popeye Doyle in a Mets “win” image.
