No, and I'm surprised someone did pick it
I suspect they just didn’t want to see someone win unuopposed
Jesus
LaRussa’s got Schumaker batting ninth tonight. Does he always put the pitcher 8th?
by BobbyV_Incognito on Jul 27, 2008 1:09 PM EDT reply actions
Has anyone
ever crunched the numbers to see if it actually works? I suppose it means a couple more RSIP situations, but not all that often. Although it may help lessen the number of GIDPs the pitcher hits into.
by BobbyV_Incognito on Jul 27, 2008 1:15 PM EDT up reply actions
Numbers, schmumbers
LaRussa is stubbornly dedicated to it, for whatever reason. Freak.

Cos I care not at all about dang Cesar Izturis. This inability to drive in runners on 2d and 3d is a bit rummy.

weather
Apocalyptic thunderstorms moving through Jersey headed east right now. Better try to get 4.5 innings in the books in a hurry, just in case.
Johan's certainly doing his part
He must have heard the forecast.

I actually give him a lot of credit last night
I was at the game and I honestly thought he wasn’t going to get out of the first inning. In fact, I wasn’t sure he would get an out. The fact that he settled down, went 5 innings and actually left with a lead was fairly impressive I thought. But yes he stinks. However he is better than Jose Lima.

so the question to ask
do they def need another bat?? Delgado, Tatis, Castro. They can’t all collapse can they? Looks like Beltran may slowly be breaking out of a slump as well. The more I think about it, the more I think Omar is right. Do not give up top prospects to get marginal added value from players like Ibanez or even a better player like Bay.
We could still use another bat
Do you really expect Tatis to keep hitting like this for 3 more months? Sure, Church is coming back, but the guy’s had 2 concussions already this season. Not to mention, we’ve lost 3 outfielders to season-ending injuries so far. So relying on Endy this much is going to bite us on the ass eventually.
