ESPN - Phils lock up closer Lidge with three-year, $37.5M extension - MLB
A few years ago this might've looked like a steal, but Lidge has been terrific for the Phillies so far this season. There has to be some concern that he will return to his homer-prone ways -- he allowed 19 homeruns between 2006 and 2007 -- and that could be disastrous at CBP. He's not going to post sub-1.00 ERAs, but if he can be a top-5 closer then this will be a decent, if expensive, deal.

The Phillies....
will regret this deal. It will not work out for them. I predict that next year Lidge will not pitch well at all. Owners complain about these big contracts but they make deals like this.
