Amazin' Avenue Swag Contest: June Results

Congratulations to anonymous, the winner of the Amazin' Avenue Swag Contest for June!

For those of you who are new to the site or who still don't know what the deal is, all of the information about the contest can be found in the left sidebar under "AA SWAG CONTEST". There you will find a link to the current game, the current month's scoreboard, and the contest rules. If you have any questions about the contest I ask that you read over the rules first. If anything is still unclear after reading them then by all means fire away.

For winning the June contest, anonymous claimed -- among several options -- the New York Mets 1986 Collector's Edition DVD Set, which is a nine-disc collection featuring Game 6 of the 1986 NLCS and all seven World Series games in their entirety.

Having won a month, anonymous is not eligible to win another monthly contest this season. If the Mets are fortunate enough to make the postseason we will have some sort of playoff contest, so he would be eligible for any prizes there. Also, there's a chance to win a prize every single game for racking up a perfect 100 on that day's contest, so he (or any other monthly winner) could still cash in there. It's not easy to score perfectly; you have to get all five questions right, including nailing the pitcher's game score right on the nose. However, this is a neat way for past winners to keep playing and for folks who missed a few games or joined the monthly contest too late to participate and still win a prize even if they are too far behind to win the monthly contest.

Here are the top ten scores for the month of June:

# User Score
1 anonymous 786
2 simons 763
3 IanB in MD 746
4 mmxii 731
5 beelzebot 681
6 kingcritical 633
7 Sireric 539
8 ams258 400
9 Prince 387
10 Sesmus 351

The full June scoreboard can be found here. You may notice the occasional duplicate entry because some folks have filled in forms using different e-mail addresses. As a reminder, the scores for the month are aggregated by username and e-mail, so make sure you use the same ones every day. Also, make sure the e-mail address you use matches the one you signed up with here on AA.

Thanks again to everyone who participated this month. I think we all had a lot of fun, and hopefully it made the games and the game chatters here a little more interesting. Here's to more fun and even more participation in July.

Good job, Anon. I made up some ground in the last week, but not nearly enough.

hooray me!

I feel I should unleash a “suck it, hataz!” or something similar but I’m too warmly disposed toward AA right now to make it convincing. I just managed to squeak this out before - and during - a lot of travelling. It takes a surprising amount of planning to make sure you end an eight-hour drive in time to fill out the night’s swag form! Fortunately (for the rest of you) my wild-ass guesses will be out of the running now for a while.

I was inspired by Eric's comment that Olerud had the best 3-year run as a Met outside Carlos Beltran to look at a few different Mets, and when I noticed that two of my all-time favorite players (Alfonzo and Strawberry) were kinda screwed by having (relatively)bad seasons in between some really good seasons, I decided to see which Mets had the best 3 seasons, period (non-consecutively). Beltran still comes out on top, but my all-time favorite player Alfonzo comes in 2nd place, and him and Straw are the only two to have three 6.0+ WAR seasons. Also interesting that Hundley comes out ahead of Gary Carter, Cleon Jones almost finishes ahead of Mike Piazza, and Joe McEwing doesn't make the list.
