I like that one idea...
...about trading Schneider for Hippo as the regular starting catcher. That would be great.
What I’m freaked out about is the possibility that July-Delgado and July-Tatis will be traded for April or May versions.

after being so upset that the METS didn't do anything to improve the ballclub...
i came to the conclusion (after the fact) that perhaps to leave “bad enough” alone was better. apparently J. Manuel likes what he’s got. So be it. Perhaps the METS just didn’t have enough worthy prospects, cash, “MOJO”, etc., to make a move.
let’s just see how far this ballclub will take us. i just got Direct TV and the SuperFan MLB Extra Innings package, so my a$$ will be glued to the boob tube.

You know what's good about being a Mets fan?
As many times as the GM or the owner screw up a deal, they are not dicks to long-time players who have exceeded their welcome. As poorly handled as Piazza’s last year was, it is nothing compared to how the Sox deal with their players.
Think about it – Nomar, Pedro and Manny all got fucked over in the press before they were dealt away or let go. It was like the Sox had three giant cancers and they needed to cut them out or die. I didn’t get it when it happened to Nomar or Pedro, and I don’t get it as it happens/happened to Manny.
So whatever about the Mets not making a deal at the deadline because at least we know the owners, while stupid or short-sighted, are not dicks. (at least in this respect.)

I think it's a good fit for him.
LA’s not a city where the fans go apeshit over every little thing. Sorry if I’m generalizing, but the generally laid-back attitude in California should be an easier environment for him; it fits him better. As for his hitting, it’ll suffer a bit. Dodger Stadium isn’t a power hitter’s haven, and he won’t have the same protection that Ortiz and Co. offered him.

i love me some SoCal
I was in San Diego and L.A. for 13 years. So I can definitely relate. (There are some uptight armpits here in D.C.)
I hope he does well there.

I think...
...he’ll do well anywhere he goes. The guy is a good hitter. As an outfielder, he is nothing special, but who cares at this point. I’m sure Torre is just fine with a slugger who works the pitch-count in his line-up.

First
...to vote that I was upset about the Mets’ inactivity.
I’m glad that there was no horribly catastrophically calamitous trade. But they could have done something to improve: pick up a reliever, a corner outfielder, etc.

Just checked in (sort of)
Saw the Mets score their run in the first, then left to get a bottle. Don’t think I’ll be posting much during the game. When I do, I don’t really pay attention to the game.
Great, homerun to the pitcher. My life really sucks.

DeFelice clobbered my ass in High School football...
...for the Bearden Bulldogs in Knoxville, Tn.
I was a sophomore and he was a senior. Hitting drills. Drove my damn shoulder into my scrotum. Yeah, he could hit, but the dude was a complete prick as well.

This is why I voted the way I did in the poll
Are you going to feel confident when Heilman comes in with the game tied down the stretch? We needed relievers at the deadline last year. We needed relievers last offseason. And we needed relievers at the deadline this year. Omar has completely ignored the Mets’ weakness for over a year now.
