I remember listening

to that album when I was like 10. I had to listen to it on vinyl. I loved it then and love it now. That album will never get old for me. Oh ya they’ll definately try to break your balls

Ah

I’ve seen the movie, unfortunately. Senior year, one of my friends demanded we watch it. If I ever wanted to know what an acid trip was like, that pretty much showed me. Says a lot about it that I don’t remember any of the music.

The Poll

relates to the song “mother” In the song theres three lines that go

“…mother do you think they’ll like this song….”
“…mother do you think they’ll drop the bomb….” (no they werent talking about Hippo hitting a homerun)
“…mother do you think they’ll try to break my balls..”

Just a great song and one of my favorites from Pink Floyd

Give Perez the money. I assure you it will not prove to be worst move the Mets have made in recent years (I realize that my logic is not airtight).

Agreed

2 months ago, I wouldn’t have. But Perez has really turned it around lately, and he’s definitely one of the best pitchers on the market. The problem is that Sabathia’s going to jack up the prices for the rest of the group. And he’s probably looking at Santana-level money.

i can’t bring myself to go to that stadium unless the metsees are in town. everything is too expensive and the fans are all annoying la-types. they show up in the fourth inning and leave in the 7th. it’s not a fun place to see a game.

i’ve driven to san diego and sat in the outfield to watch a mets game, and the tickets were about half as expensive as dodger stadium and quite awesome. i still have to make it up to the ballpark in SF. next year.

After that awful loss to Pittsburgh, I was so pissed at this team that I was afraid to watch this series agains the worst team in baseball out of fear that they’d do something like lose 2 of 3. by Simons on Aug 14, 2008 8:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Something like that

I think Boras will start at 5/75. More likely, he’ll wait until Sabathia signs, ask for slightly less, and let desperation drive up the price

by BobbyV_Incognito on Aug 14, 2008 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions

I would believe $15 mil per year

But, at 27 years old, you think Boras might want more teams to go for more years?

Incredible to think that a 27-year-old pitcher with a sub-.500 career record (probably) and career ERA over 4.00 will command such a contract.

Tickets available for Cyclones on Saturday?

If so, I’m going. I wouldn’t mind seeing Wagner blow a lead in a game that doesn’t mean anything to me.

Judging by the comments to Matt Callan’s ode to 1986 Mets: A Year To Remember from a few weeks back, the video has a devoted Mets fan following. Despite being too young to remember anything about that season, it has a special place in my fandom as well. It was part of a two video rotation (Ghostbusters being the other) which ran almost daily on my television for a few years in the early 90s. And it remained a once-in-awhile watch through high school and college.

Unsurprisingly, the physical tape deteriorated over time, and the screen jumps and sound skips made for a less than optimal viewing experience. With sale of the video discontinued, my brother converted it to DVD and gave it to me for Christmas in 2010. See the picture above for the box and DVD. He even created a scene selection function which can be accessed from the main menu. "Get Metsmerized!" plays on loop on the menu screen. It is my favorite Christmas gift ever and is still nice to throw on for a viewing.

"How'd we do it? Mirrors!"
I was flipping through some of my parents' photo albums this afternoon in search of one particular shot of the sign my older sister made for Mets Banner Day back in the late eighties. Though I didn't find that one — I'll post it when I eventually track it down, and I can assure you that it's Keith-themed — but I did stumble upon this wonderful photo of my younger sister's stuffed animal menagerie spread out in front of a glorious rainbow-festooned Mets pennant, also from the late eighties.

She works for the HRC now and was particularly delighted to be reminded of this photo.
