The Mets were actually outhit by the Astros 8-4, but one of those four hits was an RBI bloop by David Wright in the first and another was another (!) bomb by the Schneid-dog. Otherwise the Mets were dominated by Roy Oswalt for most of eight innings.
Johan Santana didn't really have great stuff tonight but still held the Astros scoreless through seven innings and lowered his ERA to 2.64. He picked up his twelfth win of the season, which leaves him seven shy of Brandon Webb's league-leading 19. Santana would probably have to win all of his remaining starts -- probably six or seven -- to stand much chance of winning the Cy Young.
Aaron Heilman and Luis Ayala pitched a scoreless frame apiece to close out the game, as the Mets improved to 15 games over .500. The Phillies roughed up Greg Maddux in his Dodgers re-debut, so the Mets' lead remains 2.5 games.
