are they gonna call this feaking game, or what?
I have tickets, but this rain is showing no signs of abating. I doubt they are going to play tonight, but why do they take so long to postpone? I’m reluctant to leave the house with the weather outlook the way it is.
We've got ourselves a ball club, the Mets of New York town!
looks like a definite maybe
Rain all night, but maybe just light enough that they’ll try to squeeze the game in? I dunno.
In the meantime, here’s a perfectly stupid story about Delgado’s contract incentives. What, they think if he wins World Series MVP we’re going to be upset to pay him another $4M?
Huhn.
Philly already called their game . . . does it really look any better in Flushing?

No.
This is silly. And it’s really not fair to the fans. Even if they do get some baseball in tonight, it will be a miserable experience for anyone in attendance.

ESPN Delgado Article
The article explains how if Delgado finishes in the top six of the regular season MVP voting and wins the World Series MVP an extra $4M would be added to his option. The article concludes with the following piece of analysis: “Think that’s still practically impossible? Think again. Two of the last four World Series MVPs — Mike Lowell (2007) and Manny Ramirez (2004) — also finished in the top six in MVP voting that season.” His reasoning is very misleading. The probability that someone in the top six of the MVP voting will also win the World Series MVP is much higher than the probability that a particular player in the top six in MVP voting will be named WS MVP.

Oy wey! A delay!
I can’t stand this. It’s the best part of the year. The most intriguing time in baseball and the beginning of football season and the weather is messing it up. I’m about to get on the global warming band wagon…I never wanted to do that.

Radar
It looks like the massive system that passed over the north-east should be gone soon. Gonna be damp I bet but I think it looks like the game should get in.

Axe Diesel Palin
Now that’s a name. Either destined to be an action star, or a 140-pound weakling with an ironic name.

first caller asks them to compare Pujols to Delgado for the MVP
I could totally see this “Delgado for MVP” thing getting so much momentum that nobody will even notice that he isn’t as good as three other players on his team, let alone Pujols
they taking calls?
I’m watching ‘Purple Rain’ instead. That Morris Day cracks me up.

second caller tried to ask how Beltran’s production has impacted the Mets this year, Keith says he’s awesome
I had actually never heard of Morris Day until Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
I guess I should get up and make dinner before the game starts up again
The main obstacle is that I’m fucking lazy
Guess who's back tonight . . .

HOLY SHIT
So they switched to an old Mets game from 1991 after the rainout, right? Darryl Strawberry’s first game at Shea as a Dodger. McCarver and Kiner in the booth. Vince Coleman is the Mets’ leadoff hitter. And as Coleman is batting leading off for the Mets in the bottom of the first, McCarver says (paraphrasing because my DVR is being a bitch) “The Mets have to be very concerned about Coleman’s on-base percentage. They don’t really care what he hits as long as he gets on base.”
Is it possible that Tim McCarver used to be intelligent and got dumber with age?
Stopped clock right twice a day and all . . .

Sat's doubleheader
Is anyone else going to be there?
by BobbyV_Incognito on Sep 12, 2008 11:42 PM EDT reply actions
I should be there for the second game
and maybe the end of the first. I have an obligation in Manhattan until about 5:00, then I’ll make my way out there.
