Can't Bear To Watch: Nationals 1, Mets 0
Gary Cohen and Ron Darling said it best on tonight's telecast: Last week, in games started by John Lannan and Odalis Perez, the Mets put up 23 runs on 27 hits. These last two days, against the same starting pitchers, the Mets have managed just two runs and nine hits.
The Mets are in second place now. How does it taste? David Wright says it's just a blip. The Mets had a pre-game meeting to no avail. Who's going to save this team? The middle of the lineup has phoned it in the last two games. Twelve games left in the season. Do the Mets go out with a bang or with a whimper?
Big winners: Mike Pelfrey, +22.4% WPA, Robinson Cancel, +8.4% WPA
Big losers: Ryan Church, -23.9% WPA, David Wright, -15.4% WPA
Teh aw3s0mest play: Nieves GIDP in 5th, +9.8% WPA
Teh sux0rest play: Church whiff to end 8th, -12.3% WPA
Total pitcher WPA: +25.7%
Total batter WPA: -75.7%
GWRBI: Cristian Guzman

My cat's breath smells like cat food
These last two games have been horrendous to watch but, uh, 12 games left and ya gotta believe, right?
'Catsmeat!' he cried. 'I see it all. It was that chump, Catsmeat.'

i had a beer coozy
with that slogan on it, (welcome to loserville, popluation you) but then it also had underneath it “because you’re a loser”. i really thought the over explanation made it 10 times as funny. i think i picked it up in an alabaman gas station on a college road trip. so i guess what im trying to say it GOD DAMN IT.
At least Pelfrey pitched well....
…which to me is as important a development as us making the playoffs this season.
Damn right
No matter what happens, Omar can pat himself on the back for holding onto Pelf. He is turning into a reliable arm. If he and Santana can anchor the team for the next few years, things will be OK (for 2/5 of the rotation.)
"The people of Houston are spending money like oil's selling at $40 a barrel."
I vote whimper, but...
…there’s a good chance the Brewers might out-whimper us.
