Look...
If the doc says he’s healthy and good enough to pitch AND Maine says he’s healthy and good enough to pitch then…COWBOY THE “F” UP and get us into the playoffs!

Five to go . . .
oh man oh man. I’m disappointed I missed almost all of last night’s game but wow, what a result. Let’s hope that effort carries over tonight against Big Z. They just have to keep winning. That’s it. Nuts to everything else. So let’s see what the lads can do . . .
Let’s Go Mets! Ya Gotta Believe!

Go Ollie!
Perez has proved to be efficient in pressure games. We need him to pitch well tonight, because Zambrano is still Zambrano.

Santana's broken-bat hit last night
Anyone else think it’s silly to suggest that it will become a part of Cubs lore like the goat and Merkle’s boner and Bartman and all that other stuff? I mean, last night’s game meant nothing to the Cubs and losing it didn’t hurt them at all.

SNY was just reaching for pregame show material.

You are absolutely right.
Even my buddies in Chicago thought it was absurd when I told them about the comment. I lived in Chicago for 10 years and all my buddies are going nuts about the Cubbies. To them it is destiny.

I think they give them out free if you have ever been a season ticket holder.

Of course
It’s their job. All season Girardi has been saying, “I honestly think we’ll be fine.” Sure, they had a pretty good season. But the Yankees will never be able to accept mediocrity.

Intangibles of the Dodgers
Given their horrible offseason acquisitions and the lack of performance of guys like Juan Pierre. I think it should some true grit that they fought back in that weaker division. I give them a lot of credit for showing some heart; something the Yankees lacked all year.

they were a mediocre team
then they added Manny Ramirez who has RAKED (214 OPS+ since the trade) and all of a sudden they started to win. that’s not intangibles, it’s a very tangible improvement leading to scoring more runs and winning more games.

well, the intangibles are ...
While Manny made a marked improvement, they were still within striking distance long before Manny. And given his previous actions, it was no layup that he would have the impact that he had.
The lose their reliever, they lose Andruw Jones, They have no lead-off hitter, they lose Garciaparra, etc… The intangibles were the grit of that team to stay close with no proven stud pitcher and no run scoring prior to Manny coming.

"within striking distance"
sure, they were .500 and within striking distance because their division is crap. the Blue Jays had the same record on August 1st and they were 9.5 games out.
they lost Andruw Jones who was shitty last year and even worse this year before he got hurt.
if you want to give intangibles credit for the fact that they’re mediocre, fine, but I think it’s just that they have mediocre talent in a poor division and played mediocre-ly

Here are Hankenstein's comments:
http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=462429
Of particular hilarity:
This is when the topic of revenue sharing usually comes up. That’s a system I don’t particularly like. It’s a socialist system, and I don’t agree with it. Does it work? It depends on your point of view. But is it right? Is it even American? I’d argue no on both of those points.
Then it gets better.

America is about equal opportunity. And if you asked Royals fans, I don’t think they’d say everything is even.
