Wags Back In August?
Eddie Coleman reports as much in a blog post over at the WFAN website. Wagner is reportedly ahead of schedule and, depending on the state of things in Flushing, might be back in the 'pen by mid-August.
Not to get too far ahead of ourselves here but, as Cerrone notes with regard to this possibility, that could leave the Mets with one scary bullpen for the stretch run. I guess we can just wait and hope for the best on this.

Hell
If this goes down as Wags hopes and Omar also signs Cordero, we could have that four-closer bullpen we’ve always dreamed of.

curious
order of bullpen if this were to happen?
Cordero (6th)
Putz (7th)
Wagner (8th)
Rodriguez (9th)
Would remind of the Nasty Boys year of 1990 w/the Reds: Charlton, Dibble, Meyers

This is good news
Wags will be in mid-May form in time for the playoffs.

This would be
fantastico. Would definitely be a nice infusion, although hopefully by the time he’s back we’ll have a 45 game lead in the division, and he can pitch sparingly until the playoffs. A guy can dream, right?
Different injuries.
Granted Wagner isn’t a spring chicken, but pitchers have shown a pretty decent ability to return from TJ surgery. Duaner’s injury was a shoulder, which are notably tougher to return from (see Pedro and Ramon Martinez.)
So while I wouldn’t bank on it, I think he has a better chance of coming back and having an impact than Duaner. Plus, Duaner was out for nearly 2 years, not 1.
true enough
still, I just meant that we should generally be cautious about expecting too much too soon from players coming off injuries
