New Blog: The Boxing Bulletin for Boxing Fans!

In a piece about the Mets' projected rotation Will Leitch of NY Magazine writes:

"...the new Citi Field, which Mets players who have tried out the stadium say is a "launching pad." (Perhaps the most underreported story of the Mets off-season: That Citi is expected to be a homer-happy park.)"

Leitch is apparently basing his assertion off of the roughly 1 hour of BP Wright, Murphy and Evans took a few months back. Compare to Greg Rybarczyk of the excellent Hit Tracker, who declared Citi the "MLB's new Grand Canyon."

Who ya got? Will, Mr. Deadspin himself, or Greg, a man who spends many of his wakings hours analyzing ballparks and their effect on home runs?

Honestly

I hope they’re both wrong, and it’s in the middle.

I think it might be

It’ll be interesting to see how it plays, but I have a feeling we won’t know for sure one way or another.

To be fair.

Do you really think Leitch is aware of what hit tracker is?

No, and honestly I don't expect him to

But I also expect a writer for NY Magazine to not make statements like “the most underreported story of the Mets offseason: that Citi is expected to be a homer happy park” based off of a 3 man BP session.

What were these 3 hitters supposed to say? “Oh it looks like the new coming of Petco Park. Free agent power hitters, STAY AWAY!”

In the end, maybe neither is right or wrong and we will just have to wait and see how the stadium plays. Just thought it was a kind of weak declaration from a guy writing for such a prestigious publication.
