Source: Chicago Cubs get Seattle Mariners' Aaron Heilman for two players
Heilman is deprived of the chance to lead the American League in tight pants.
Eric's take:
Per Ken Rosenthal, one of the players coming from the Cubs would be shortstop Ronny Cedeno.

Geez
In effect, the Cubbies dealt Felix Pie (and Ronny Cedeno) for Heilman.

Well alright, then.
Welcome back to the NL, Aaron Heilman. See you in August.

Ronny Cedeno? Jeez.

Yeah, I don't get it
Between Ronny Cedeno and Garrett Olson, what exactly are the Ms getting here? Younger?

I read that pretty much right after I posted the comment here
I didn’t know much about Olson so I can see the optimism of a good, young arm who may just have been the victim of bad timing/circumstances in B’more. The folks at Bleed Cubbie Blue, however, seemed less than optimistic. They’ll come around, tho.

I don't know why
But Chone projects a huge jump in offense from Cedeno, .329 wOBA, and his 2nd base defense has always been awesome so it could end up being a decent trade for them.
As for Garret Olson, umm yeah anyone’s guess is as good as mine.I guess he’ll be a pretty cheap swing man, but so would Heilman.

Why?
Garret Olson and Ronny Cedeno are both young and have considerable upside. A lot has been made about Olson’s average stuff since his poor debut, but he has a great minor league track record and was a top prospect last year. Cedeno is similar. He needs to just hit some to be a good shortstop and he certainly has the minor-league track record and potential to do so. Plus, anyone who displaces Yuni Betancourt is good news for the Ms and Carlos Silva.
Garret Olson and Ronny Cedeno are two players I’ve always really rooted for because no one appreciates them. Same with Endy and Carp, which is why it’s really weird that their all going to be on the same team next year. Needless to say, I’m a big fan of Z so far.

MLBTR
Credits Crasnick with stating that the two Cubs (Pie and Cedeno) were out of options, and perhaps were not a part of the plans for this year. Trading them became the real only option.
And Rosenthal mentions the cat from the Indians was the Mariner’s real target in the Putz trade, thereby making Aaron a spare part. The Cubs were the team interested in giving Heilman another shot.

I think this helps illustrate
just how highly Heilman is thought of. Of course now that he’s in the NL, you know he’s gonna dominate us, right? Ugh…

We're only playing them six times this year
That might limit the damage.

Heilman and the Cubs have similar talents for pulling defeat out of the jaws of victory.

i'm kinda glad heilman's on the cubs
i would have totally forgotten he existed if he played for the mariners.

IMO he didn't necessarily
exist when he played for the Mets. It’s at this point someone will kindly inject some stats to otherwise prove that he did exist.
Won’t matter. IMO he just didn’t make the cut. If he did, he’d still be w/the Mets.

i think what the heilman's stats show...
is that we would have been better off if he didn’t exist…at least last year.
