Braves Zero in on Lowe
Frick. The last thing I want to see is us losing out on Lowe to a division rival.

Power play?
Well, we all knew that Lowe and Boras (or is it Boras and Lowe?) were unhappy with the Mets first offer. Meeting with a divisional rival immediately after leaving talks with the Mets might be a pretty good way to get that extra two or three million you were looking for.
'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

I think Boras wants to see Lowe sign with the Braves
so he can force the Mets into overpaying for client #2 Ollie Perez. Hopefully Heyman or Rosenthal can find out what exactly the Braves are prepared to offer Lowe.

Boras may want that
But Lowe isn’t going to accept less money from the Braves just to make his agent richer.

It's a concern
But I don’t see it happening. If you believe the reports, the Braves are unwilling to exceed the Mets’ 3/$36 million offer to Lowe, and certainly not by enough to render the Mets irrelevant. I feel like the Mets are willing to go to $15 million or so, but won’t if they don’t have to.

I'm sick of this...
I just hope something happens in the next few days cause I cannot wait any longer! It’s making me sick. Common Omar, work your magic my friend!

Aggh.
Bad enough we didn’t even try for Smoltz, who went fairly cheap, but losing Lowe to Atlanta would be a killer. There’s only a handful of decent starting pitchers left, and there hasn’t been any word that Omar’s been chasing any of them. There’s a huge drop-off in potential between him and Ollie, and even an even bigger one between Ollie and guys like Redding and Wolf.

as I said after the Rodriguez and Putz deals...
I really, REALLY continue to hope that Omar didn’t have the attitude that all he needed to do this offseason was fix the bullpen (which isn’t actually complete yet as far as I’m aware) and everything would be all good.
