Shea entering another phase of destruction.
Very sad for me, considering how much time I spent at that damn place. But look at how cool the New Shea looks in the other pictures in this slideshow.

Man that is some kind of depressing.
I know Shea 2 is gonna be all sorts of okay but I ain’t feel great about looking at Shea Classic in its deconstructed state. Dang.
'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

best thing Chopper 880 has ever done for me
Great photos, thanks for linking. It’s still sad to see Shea destroyed, but man, Taxpayer Field is looking sweet.
foul ground
For whatever it’s worth, there has been some discussion around these parts lately about the amount of foul territory on the field in the new park versus Shea.
Shea had a decent amount of foul territory where the ball would still be in play. In these photos, it looks like the new park has much less, which I guess is typical of most of the newer places. Dig:

Very nice shot of Citi!

EPIC!
Looking at this I couldn’t help but wonder: Imagine if this thing were closed off. How many more seats would that be? If it were closed off and the attendance was full, what would the noise level be like? Whew, that place would have been deafening. (Not that it wasn’t in the first place.)

Very bittersweet
Citi Field looks absolutely gorgeous. But the images of Shea affect me in a way that grainy photos of WWII destruction never could. Very eerie.

Interesting as well...
…that image, because of the way it is framed, makes not only Shea but all of New York seem as if it has been destroyed. (Yes, that takes some imagination). It’s as if the whole city has been bombed. Quite a strange picture indeed.
